Dewinged 03.25.19	They do (sorry!). But yeah, they are not even fit for the hair metal tag. I don't know man, I used to love hair metal, I basically grew up listening to all that shit and Tesla were always incredibly unappealing to me.

Tesla was just a rock n roll band that got sucked into the big hair fad. They don't suck, but they're not hair metal any more than Guns n Roses is hair metal (and Guns n Roses isn't). Ratt had one good album and were definitely better than Slaughter (and so was Tesla). My personal underdog favourite was always Enuff Z'nuff though.

SitarHero 03.25.19	Yeah it is. I consider Scorpions and Def Lep to not be hair metal cos they were around and popular before hair metal became a fad. Like Van Halen was. And Tesla always sounded like more of a bluesy rock band than a typical hair metal group.

Agreed about Skid Row and Firehouse though. I would sub Slaughter (though I do love "Up All Night" & "Fly to the Angels") with Vinnie Vincent Invasion, and probably add L.A. Guns - Cocked & Loaded

deathschool 03.25.19	It’s possible that I haven’t heard their “good albums”, but the singles I was assaulted by on classic rock radio back in my restaurant kitchen days are enough for me to not want to revisit. Looking at the track list for Pyromania, it kinda looks like Def Leppard always sucked though.
BigHans 03.25.19	Scorps are definitely not a hair band, but it is hard to draw the line sometimes with the genres. I've been jamming this stuff for the better part of my life, so I could bore you all for days talking about it. One band that is criminally underrated is Great White, because they are known for a shitty cover of Once Bitten Twice Shy. The rest of their catalog absolutely does not sound like that, and they have some MONSTER jams, like House of Broken Love (one of my all time faves), Step On You, Old Rose Motel, Rock Me, Face the Day Save Your Love, Angel Song, Rolling Stoned, the list goes on.

BigHans 03.25.19	IMO Long Cold Winter absolutely destroys Night Songs. It has one of the genre's greatest songs (Gypsy Road), One of the biggest power ballads (Don't Know What You Got Till Its Gone), and two of the most underrated all time jams of the genre (Coming Home, Last Mile).
