10.30.16 | "the frontman of a local hardcore band got frustrated that no one was moshing and punched some 15 year old kid in the face while he was at the front."
Intentionally assaulting a defenseless minor? Sounds like he should get arrested |
G0atC0re
10.30.16 | Yeah also from oz, you can't fucking assault people because they don't mosh. It's not a requirement. I've seen people get knocked out, cameras have been broken before. Most brutal mosh pits I've been in were Parkway and Confession. There are some fucking violent people out there. |
rabidfish
10.30.16 | lol that's fucking dumb and shitty, why would you do that.
Moshing is retarded enough already, why be an asshole about it too? |

10.30.16 | okay cool these are the type of responses I was hoping to see, ye he's a real shit dude, ironically said 15 year old was one of the only people there actually looking forward to the band as opposed to everyone else there waiting for the headliner. Frontman then spat water at people outside or so I was told. Thankfully the (Still shitty) band kicked him out after that show.
Glad to see im not the only one who thinks crowdkilling is awful, most tuff guy hardcore dudes I know just say shit like 'thats just hardcore man' or 'if you dont like it dont come to a show pussy'
@G0atC0re yea i got dropped in a confession pit when I was like 14 tbh, thankfully some dudes grabbed me and got me out of there and the guy who hit me found me after the show and profusely apologised, in his case the hit was unintentional so it was aight |

Moshing is a blast in the right crowd. Throwing random punches and kicks and stomping around all aggro on the other hand.... |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.30.16 | when i was 16 i saw converge and there was this dude who was lurking on the outside ring of the pit the entire show waiting for people to let their guard down and he would just literally tackle them below the waist from behind and flip them. fucking piece of shit man thats not cool. im not into moshing anymore, but back when i was it was always at least a loving and community building sort of violence (lol) and when someone got knocked down or hurt people would protect them and help them up and make sure they were all good. thats how it should be. anyone who goes to a show with the intent of intentionally hurting people in their community should get thrown the fuck out and barred from the venue. |

10.30.16 | The straightedge crews at metal shows in SLC used to be the absolute worst. I wouldn't even go to a show if there was anything remotely christian about any of the bands on the bill.
I got a cigarette slapped out of my mouth and spit at just waiting in line to see a Chariot show back in '07 or '08 and it wasn't any better in the venue. Saw guys getting sucker-punched and ganged up on for running into the wrong dude in the pit. Fucking pathetic stuff. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.30.16 | " most tuff guy hardcore dudes I know just say shit like 'thats just hardcore man' or 'if you dont like it dont come to a show pussy'"
thats kind of the mentality ive often gotten from a lot of hardcore communities. there is no sense of solidarity, just a misplaced sense of aggression against people that should be coming together. the irony is that both of the genres hardcore stems from (punk and metal) are much more compassionate to each other and their safety from all the punk and metal communities i've ever associated with at least. this is why hardcore is one of the dumbest subgenres.
its either "lets aggressively flail in our own proximity without touching but if u bump me i will have a temper tantrum and try to assault you" or "i'm going to actively be spitefully aggressive to people that are a part of my community"
i saw acacia strain once and the frontman stopped the show to be like "I WANT EVERYONE IN THE CROW TO TURN TO THE PERSON ON THEIR LEFT... AND PUNCH THEM IN THE FUCKING FACE"
everyone was like um no fucking kill yourself
"Moshing is a blast in the right crowd. "
yeah i used to like it for sure |

10.30.16 | Pots, I've seen that sort of shit a lot. I usually scope the pit for a bit before i get involved these days. Can totally ruin a good show. |

@dbizzles
Well ye exactly, when everyone in a pit is just pitting for the sake of fun its dope, everyone sticks to their space, if someone falls help em out, if someone hits you accidentally laugh it off etc etc. But lately I've been to way too many shows where people are hurting people for the sake of it, and you can always pick the guys. Its always massive beefcake guys in Nike Airs and mesh shorts and they always target chicks and teenagers, its gross |

10.30.16 | also agree on the points about hardcore pots, I love the music but fuck I hate the fans, metalheads arent elitist, hardcore dudes are elitist |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.30.16 | yeah i dunno now days id really just rather dance, which coincides with my music taste shift obviously. but i still like some metal and stuff and when i go to those shows its honestly just distracting for me to constantly have to keep my guard up in case someone gets flung into me and i go flying into someone else. im here to watch the band not brace myself for an hour and keep pushing people off my shit.
and i hate being at the back during shows because it feels like a waste of my money and like im not engaging in a full experience so i always wind up in that position cuz i guess id rather be near the front and have to push people every 2 seconds than be at the back with all the boring people that stand there with their arms crossed and dont even dance or move around at all |

10.30.16 | Last weekend at the DEP show was the first time in a while that I threw down pretty good. It was my first and probably last Dillinger show, so why not? Their set was respectful for the most part.
The Cult Leader show was a bit more senselessly violent though (dudes throwing random punches and hardcore dancing, etc.) Got fucking kicked in the guts and still have raspberry over my hip.
I'm telling you, Utah is terrible. You'd think we're pussies, but we're mostly assholes. |

10.30.16 | so perfect example of hardcore straight edge cunts
i went to a cancer bats show (cuz johnny truant was opening and i loved them - hate cancer bats) and during johnny truants set, me, my friend, and one other stranger were the only people there to see them and the only people moving around at all. we started like lightly moshing around a bit and i hit some like 6 foot lanky fucking 17 year old emo faggot by accident and he fucking flipped out and literally DOUBLE PUNCH ONE LEG KICKED ME IN THE CHEST (fortunately he was a lanky twig bitch and it was like the weakest act of aggression ive ever experienced) and right after some fat little hardcore bitch grabbed me by the shoulders, spun me around and screamed in my face "FUCKING CHILL MAN"
i was like dude holy fuck i understand we are at a cancer bats show, literally the bottom of the barrel for hardcore angry little bitches but like have u never ever been to a show in your life? |

10.30.16 | 'Its always massive beefcake guys in Nike Airs and mesh shorts'
LOL there was a shirtless hairy sweat-mongrel at the show I've been talking to that was absolutely massive- like, seriously almost as big as The Mountain from GoT and he was a total cunt. What was funny was that he went too hard in the first two songs on the DEP set that he had to get assistance to get out of the pit. Fucking tough guy. |

ye see at shitty local deathcore gigs I'm not too worried cos its legit all really tall lanky teens, so if i get hit ill probably be fine, plus they look like anime rejects while they mosh which is funny. BUT at hardcore gigs the dudes are all so fucking big if I cop a stray hit (let alone a deliberate one) its fucking lights out for me, im a skinny ass dude |

10.30.16 | "yeah, fish, I get it. I go to shows alone a lot and when I do I get some pretty bad anxiety for some reason. Usually a couple shots conditions me pretty well."
when i first moved away from home i would intentionally not tell my friends about shows and go to them by myself as a means to both be more receptive to meeting new people and also to put myself out of my comfort zone and get used to that. i used to be a bit insecure about it as well but i've learned over the years the only way to grow out of your comfort zone is to constantly put yourself in situations your uncomfortable with. if you do that all the time eventually they all become less and less uncomfortable |

10.30.16 | Most of my friends just aren't that into music. I usually have someone to go with me, but as my tastes have expanded... people just aren't interested in even hearing new kinds of music, let alone going to see someone they've never heard of. 10.30.16 | Had two straight edge hardcore kid suite mates freshman year of undergrad. Both were super into that tuff guy lifestyle and hardcore "dancing" (retarded limb flailing).
Both were also like 5'8" and had zero muscle tone. We had an ongoing beef with our neighbors above us for not knowing how to behave like adults (and avoid doing stuff like walking on stilts and skateboarding in their kitchen above us at 3 a.m.) and one time I finally snapped and went up there fucking banging on their door and telling them to come out and settle up. Literally the only time I ever saw them do shit was backing me when they knew I was already enraged and gonna handle all the heavy lifting myself. Hardcore kids are overwhelmingly pussies irl. |
