Heppasodge 09.11.21	You could say there was a group of bands that started making music around 2005 - 2009, (sikth, textures, chimp spanner, benea reach, animals as leaders), where the sound was still fairly thrashy and proggy, but had more emphasis on rhythm/chugging. And then it became trendy and lots of people jumped on the sound, with some more prominent bands, i.e. Tesseract, Periphery, The Contortionist, Vildhjarta, where everything became more stripped back, programmed, and dedicated, and the distinctive twangy guitar tone became recogniseable.
Tundra 09.11.21	Cool assessment man, very interesting! I'm seeing less primarily djent bands around and more metalcore bands that incorporate djent into their sound, such as Spiritbox, Invent Animate, Silent Planet, and a myriad of other bands as well. Obviously, the instruprog crowd is still going, Plini, Intervals, David Maxim Micic etc. But overall I think the sound has become homogenized by all these metalcore bands, I think it's potentially at risk of being overly exposed to the point where people are starting to become sick of it, cause every metalcore band is using it, can't stress that enough. I think instruprog is still going strong nowadays, Periphery's recent track Reptile reignited my hope for the longevity of the genre, hoping it will have legs to continue thriving.

Tundra 09.11.21	"all hold up, this is the golden age of djent right here, are you kidding me?" well I won't say all, I would say a band like Northlane and Monuments would prove to be more of a detriment towards the genre than anything else. They were basically the precursor to what is now, all metalcore bands using the djent sound and inflating it into homogenous monotony, unfortunately.
