07.20.22 | Schitt's Creek is very contrived humour and cartoonish characters. It reminds me a bit of shows like Brooklyn 9 9. They're decent enough but lacking in substance and ultimately too forced. Community is fantastic tho, seen it multiple times, same as The Office.
I was super into Lost back in the day but I rly doubt it holds up. Also the ending was pretty awful. Most of the rest of these are pretty w.e imo, barring Bob's Burgers which is great (Idk if you're a fan, but loved the episode of Archer where they tied in Bob's Burgers) |

Mmmm I disagree, the ending was not amazing, but definitely not bad. Very misunderstood sadly, I've rewatched LOST so many times. It was a way to wrap ties between characters and ultimately the show was about the characters. |
Gyromania
07.20.22 | Ive read essays on that show and on that ending. I think it's serviceable, I was just hoping for more. All throughout the series the show teases so many cool elements and none of them really ever come to fruition. I think the show did itself in by shrouding itself in too much ambiguity. The mystery was always so exciting but there was no way they could deliver satisfying explanations for everything. |
combustion07
07.20.22 | Damn I loved Mad TV lol I might be blinded by nostalgia though. That was the first show I really got into big time outside of some cartoons and I've got awesome memories of my sister and I boning over it and quoting stupid lines before she moved out and left me stranded with my parents when I was young lol.
It's been forever since I've watched Eastbound & Down but I remember digging it. I also remember not enjoying one of the seasons much though. Overall I'm more of a movie huff than a TV guy. Haven't watched a ton of shows in full. Been meaning to check more anime also. Cowboy Bebop probably deserved a spot also. Yuyu should be way higher too but I forgot about it until last minute |

I can see why you wouldn't dig OA honestly. I'm a complete sucker for anything that has multiple dimensions as a plot point though. in fact if anyone has any recs for some sci Fi/horror style shows that have anything to do with multi dimensional stuff shoot them my way because I need some new stuff to watch!
As for Futurama it might actually be my favorite show. Definitely the one I've watched front to back the most times. Never gets old and the perfect blend of sharp and stupid humor really hits the spot for me. Timeless. Even the later seasons the times it came back worked extremely well for me even though the earlier seasons are the GOAT. I neglected The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers but they are great also. Although for me Simpsons lost me around like season 9 if I remember right.
Definitely check DARK. It's fucking amazing imo. Also my favorite soundtrack for any show ever. I know a lot of people find the first season of it confusing/slow. Stick with it though, well worth it

02.28.23 | I can explain LOST. It is the first show to really captivate me with just how detailed the characterization was. From the very first episode it is clear the central point of the show are the characters and their back stories and how that led them to where they are. As the show progresses, you hate a lot of them, feel for some of them, and fall in love with some. As the mystery of the island and everything unfolds, the show never loses focus on the characters and their arcs.
"I love Lost but agree it’s odd to rank it as the best show given that last season and series finale."
Nothing wrong with the last season orrrr the finale which so many goddamn people misunderstood. I've seen the series multiple times over and it's insane how many people didn't listen to Christian in the church and instead think they were dead the entire time on the island instead of just the "flash sideways" in the last season. |

Yeah, that's cool. Impactful media at a certain point in a person's life is always going to be special.
And indeed, 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' is awesome. My suggestion next is let that experience sink in, then try the four "Rebuild" films... they're very interesting... not "better", IMO (still prefer the original series, plus 'End of...), but definitely worthwhile. |

03.11.23 | F*ck, just finished season 4 of The Wire, and it simply might be one of the best things I ever watched, it's amazing how the bigger themes kept expanding beautifully with each season, with everything being so well knit. Season 5 seems to have a bad rep, but I'm looking forward to it, and curious as to how it will expand even further from the last seasons and tie it all together for the end. The Wire seems to be compared to Sopranos a lot, watching both, I can recognize how Sopranos was a trailblazer for TV Shows and the cinematography is truly an work of art, but now watching The Wire, it just seems to lack the emotional impact for me. |
