2 Lists For The Click Of 1
Pt. 1 is my Lollapalooza experiencerPt. 2 is my Grad Party Playlist |
1 | | Pt. 1 Lollapalooza |
2 | | Warpaint Exquisite Corpse
I got to Lollapalooza late on Friday, so Warpaint was the first band I saw.
They were okay. The sound on the Lake Shore stage was a bit off, but they
made up for it with intense jamming near the end of every song. the
Highlight was probably Love is to Die. B- |
3 | | Chvrches Recover
My second most anticipated act of the day because I love their debut
album, and I have a little bit of a crush on Lauren. I waited an hour to get
good seat, and it was definitely worth it. They played perfectly, and the
were able to replicate the sound of their debut album well live. The crowd
was also really into it which was a complete change of pace from warpaint.
Highlights were probably hearing my favorite song Gun live, and when
Martin sand Under the Tides because he really got the crowd going. A |
4 | | Lorde The Love Club
I had to hurry over to the Red Bull stage to catch a small glimpse of Lorde
who was surely the most popular non-headliner of the weekend. It was so
crowded that all i got to see was part of a monitor filming her live. At least I
got to hear her best hits like Royals and Tennis Court. |
5 | | Arctic Monkeys Suck It and See
My most anticipated act of Lolla, and they sort of lived up to the hype. They
plaed some of m favorite AM tunes such as Briianstorm and 505, but they
played way too much stuff from their latest album. I also wished they put
on more of a show like Outkast did. But when they played the songs I
loved, I went crazy singing at the top of my lungs so all in all I had a great
time. The Highlight for me was probably hearing I Bet You Look Good on the
Dancefloor live. A- |
6 | | Meg Myers Make a Shadow
The first act Saturday, she was pretty good. Her show was a smaller stage
so there wasn't much presentation, but she has a lot of rock songs that I'm
pretty fond of including Desire and Curbstomp. Highlight was hearing Desire
live. B |
7 | | John Butler Trio April Uprising
I head 2 or 3 songs then left. Wasn't really a fan. |
8 | | Grouplove Spreading Rumours
Grouplove was fantastic they were the pure shot of addrenaline I was
hoping for. They had energy out the wazoo not too much extremely catchy
pop songs and a Beastie Boys cover. soo good. The highlight for m was
probably Shark Attack. A |
9 | | Nas Illmatic
I heard all of Nas's big hits off Illmatic (NY State of Mine, The World is Yours,
Life's a Bitch) then left bc it was suprisingly crowded Highlight was probably
the Worlds is Yous live. B+ |
10 | | Foster the People Torches
Same Situation as Lorde but I could actually see the stage a little bit. I
didn't listen to anything by Foster before Lolla, but hearing Pumped Up
Kicks and Coming of Age live was pretty cool. |
11 | | Outkast Stankonia
Outkast were incredible. They have a huge library of Hip Hop classics to
play live, and they did not disappoint in the slightest. They also had a great
stage setup with 3 monitors with colorful and interesting visually going
along with each song. The highlight was either hearing B.O.B or Ms. Jackson
live. A |
12 | | Kongos Lunatic
The first act Sunday, and they were ok. Their unique South African sound
was pretty neat. C+ |
13 | | Bleachers Strange Desire
He was pretty good. I wasn't really a fan of is debut album but I Wanna Get
Better is a great single. B- |
14 | | NONONO Pumpin Blood
Pumpin Blood is a catchy tune, and when i was walking by their stage I
heard it playing so I ran over to hear it, but I left after the one song. |
15 | | Trombone Shorty Backatown
I listened to a few songs including their most popular song Fire and
Brimstone and they were really good. The trombonist kicked ass. |
16 | | Cage the Elephant Melophobia
They were amazing. Their lead singer is crazy live its like going to punk
show. He ripped off his shirt then crowdsurfed. They also had a ton of
fantastic singles to play live. Highlights were definitely Come a Little Closer
and In One Ear. A- |
17 | | Chromeo White Women
I left Cage a few songs early to hear more of Chromeo. Their funky beats
and the crowd dancing. Highlights were definitely Jealous (I Ain't With It)
and Needy Girl. B+ |
18 | | The Avett Brothers I and Love and You
They had a few good songs, but a lot of their songs still sound pretty
similar imo. I love Live and Die though, and it rained heavily during their set,
which resulted in a rainbow while it's sunny and still raining. pretty magical.
Highlight was definitely Live and Die. B |
19 | | Childish Gambino Because The Internet
Community is my favorite show so I had to see Donald live, and it was
actually really good. The only song I really enjoy is 3005, but he rapped
every song with the same amount of passion and energy so it was pretty
easy to get into his performance. The highlight was seeing 3005 live. B+ |
20 | | Darkside Psychic
I flat out don't get the hype behind Darkside. I thought maybe my opinion
would change if I saw them live, but nope it didn't. They had so many build
ups and none of them went anywhere. the lights were pretty cool though.
The highlight was the stage I guess. C- |
