Rage Against The Machine
A Bonafide early 90's classic, literally no filler on here and numerous defining songs like Killing in the
Name, Freedom, Wake Up, and Bullet in the Head, it showed RATM's prowess as rap-metal front
runners in how the combined the two genres so seamlessly and never sounded like a band of one
genre trying too hard to be another. The production is crisp and clean enough to bring out the
funky bass grooves, but raw enough to capitalize on de la Rocha's intensely honest raps and
Morello's aggressively innovative guitar work. Indispensable. | | 2 |  | Rage Against The Machine
Evil Empire
This record is arguably as superb as the self titled debut, but is definitely more of a grower (the last
few tracks between Down Rodeo and Year of tha Boomerang aren't the most accessible compared
to the other songs). Tracks like Bulls on Parade, People of the Sun, and Year of tha Boomerang show
Tom Morello's completed evolution into the "guitar DJ" that most of us recognize him as today, and
even with a larger shift away from metal towards hip hop, none of the aggression or vitality of the

The Battle of Los Angeles
Still a strong record, but not nearly as monumental as the two before it. BOLA has multiple
highlights such as Testify, Guerilla Radio, Ashes in the Fall, and War Within a Breath, but a lot of
filler to match it. It still had aggression, but didn't show as much progress forward from EE as EE did
from the self titled. It also had more of a studio polish than either of those. Regardless, still a worth LP

Renegades
Better than one might expect from an all covers record, RATM manages to make some tracks like
How I Could Just Kill A Man, Ghost of Tom Joad, and Maggie's Farm their own while still staying
respectful to the original versions. However as the last record from the band, it would've been a
much more effective swan song if it featured some original material | |

I always liked 2 the best because its the most diverse and it contains "Vietnow" and "Tire Me."
