| Branch Out Recs Please
Since I have just about nothing to do this Summer (thank God), I will be listening to tons of albums, reviewing, and all that fun stuff. I would like some recs for genres I generally don't know much about though, such as electronic, jazz, ambient, black metal, or just about anything. List is stuff I plan to get to for reviewing or just listening. | 1 | | Frank Zappa Hot Rats
Going to attempt just about all of his discog, will be quite a task. | 2 | | Aphex Twin Richard D. James Album | 3 | | Boris Noise | 4 | | Glenn Branca The Ascension | 5 | | Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band Strictly Personal
Expect a review sometime soon for this. | 6 | | Butthole Surfers Locust Abortion Technician
Read about this band a bit ago, going to do a discog listen. | 7 | | Converge No Heroes | 8 | | St. Vincent St. Vincent | 9 | | Fugazi Steady Diet of Nothing | 10 | | Sir Lord Baltimore Sir Lord Baltimore
Going to review this sometime soon. | |

Yay! Though I'll say two things:
1.You can skip his orchestral albums. They're not really all that great and far from essential.
2.He has major live albums (about 9) that the fan base treat like studio albums so be sure to include those in your listen. They, for the most part, have mainly songs on them that aren't on any studio albums. | BMDrummer
06.19.14 | Will do, I'll go for that then. | ZombicidalMan
06.19.14 | forest - like a blaze above the ashes
beherit - drawing down the moon
mayhem - deathcrush
ulver - bergtatt
emperor - in the nightside eclipse
burzum - hvis lyset tar oss
some entry level BM to check out. Also try Tim Hecker and Nadja out just because they're awesome | SaneTBP
06.19.14 | Branch out, you say?
For jazz, a great standing point, and one of the greats in general is
Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady.
It's exiting, adventurous and something you should appreciate after a quick look on your ratings
For electronic, Aphex Twin is surely great. I'd rather rec His 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92' as a starting point, as it's probably his best effort.
For other electronic stuff:
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi (chill, weird and creative stuff)
Burial - Kindred (if you haven't heard yet; sampled vocals, intense beats, immaculate atmosphere)
Autechre - Tri Repetae (lil' bit more out there, complex rhytmns and robotic, calculated atmospheres)
and yeah, unwound [2] | SirDrumsalot
06.19.14 | Check out Pinback for some indie rock/pop.
Information Retrieved and Blue Screen Life aren't the greatest. But the other 3 albums all kick balls as hard as indie can! | DikkoZinner
06.19.14 | T. Rex - The Slider
Church of Misery - Thy Kingdom Scum
Bastard Priest - Ghouls of the Endless Night
All those are in desperate need of reviews. | ArsMoriendi
06.19.14 | Why? Thing-Fish is funny. It has little merit when it comes to the music, but it's great if you think of it as a comedic
audio-based musical. | BMDrummer
06.19.14 | I'll listen to it just because I like to listen to a band/artist's full discog. Also Fripp, are you saying you want me to review Enid's first record? I already heard it. | BMDrummer
06.19.14 | Maybe I'll check that out then when I'm done with Zappa's discog. As for the Enid, once I get done my massive list of other things to review, I might go for it. Or just randomly, who knows. | treeqt.
06.19.14 | https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/treeqt/r4.5 | ChoccyPhilly
06.19.14 | Venetian Snares - My love is a Bulldozer
Thantifaxath - Sacred white noise (pretty easy black metal album to get into)
Hiss Tracts - Whatever their recent album was called again | TheGreatQ
06.19.14 | Standish/Carlyon - Deleted Scenes (electronic/downtempo)
Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers (electronic/ambient)
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - The Social Network Soundtrack (ambient)
Those are 4.5-5s for me
