April's foolish samurai (a digs' list)

neuroaesthetics is pretty cool on the one hand, but very frustrating on the other. Have to deal with some fucking nerds tryna wrap their heads around the concept of a "banger" is harder than non-linear dynamics in theoretical dimensions.
1 Angie Stone
mahogany soul

fuck RYM (always). this got just as many bangers as black diamond. Very amazing neo-soul from 2001.
2Blue Gene Tyranny
Out of the Blue

interesting hippie shit. The last 20-some minutes spoken word / minimalistic pop-folk-baroque thing was kinda meh at some points, but overall i do rec.
3Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 2 in C minor, "Resurrection"

2003 ver. by the wiener philarmonica. I'm really diggin Mahler rn. Guy's got a very keen ear for "goosebump" territory. Shit's epic.
4RXK Nephew
Till I'm Dead

2023 Neph is still going strong and hard.
5 Dinamarca
soƱao

2023 New Dinamarca. Sweet, melancholic, nursery-rhyme-esque electronic. Not amazing but still worth checking out.
6The Cure
Disintegration

another one of those bands i don't know why i never seriously got into, despite really liking most of what i heard from them in the past. This last month was as good an excuse as any to check out one of their most beloved albums. It's fucking good. Really took me by surprise how good it actually is!
7Alfa Mist
Variables

2023. Another beautiful effort from the exciting london jazz scene. Got all that good stuff in it. You know, still going steady, bussiness as usual, ig.
8Thomas Dolby
The Flat Earth

completely out of left field rec i got from spotify. Shit bangs, it's like that 80's quirky shit, same parts post-punk, new wave and funk with a hint of sophisti-pop in there? i dunno, it's bangin'. very short, too, so it doesn't get grating!
9Pat Metheny
Bright Size Life

An ECM jazz classic. Pat Metheny is a legend, and this album really goes hard. I hope more people would explore this beautiful genre here, i think i'd like that. Might have to make a special list with some of my faves, i suppose i have no other choice!
10Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Tender Prey

this is the first album i rate in over... 6 months? i think? yea, it's a fucking classic.
