Rabid's October selection(!)

Been occupied with some academic and burocratic stuff lately, also a small vacation in the middle. Been cool so far, the future finally feels a bit more real than usual, albeit i still don't feel like i can actually target it, less manipulate it in any way, but hey, can anyone, really? I want to, for sure. Anyways, as always no ratings, but impressions, feelings and thoughts
1The Orielles
Tableau

2022 psychedelic / dream pop
Disco Volante was a great album, but i feel this new one hit a sweet spot in their way between jangle pop and dream psychedelia. Still a bit sloppy, still a bit clunky, but super enjoyable all the way through
2Elaine Howley
The Distance Between Heart And Mouth

2022 ambient pop
this was really nice. Don't remember much but hey, it's in my notes, so... yea, i bet it's for something!
3Pallbearer
Sorrow And Extinction

doom
the tag "entry-level" can be a bit demonized, but i don't think it's necessarily the case with this. Some great, straight-forward, to-the-point heavy music for people who want something that's not hard to get into. Bangs.
4Liz Phair
Exile In Guyville

rock
Shit's stacked with bangers. Lyrics are dumb? yea, i guess? WGAF, nerd
5Janet Jackson
The Velvet Rope

rnb
Another amazing rnb album i just found out about. Been meaning to get into Janet's catalogue for a time now. This is so good, love the production on this one specifically.
6Blue States
Man Mountain

trip hop
Some under-the-radar trip hop appretiation moment. It's not amazing, but definitely deserved the spot. Some great moments.
7Marilyn Mazur
All the Birds: Reflecting / Adventurous

ECM Jazz
Percusionist Marilyn Mazur was another great find in my ECM Jazz journey this year. As always with this genre, i highly recommend the live stuff over studio, just not the same energy levels.
8 Surface to Air Missive
shadows leap

2022 indie rock
newest S2AM. Another laberynth of obtuse slacker rock and psychedelic burn-out, both quirky, charming, schizo and kinda brooding. Loved it!
9Sequestered Keep
The Vale of Ruined Towers

dungeon synth
from the FIEF guy. Love this chill medieval RPG vibe, it's the best.
10Honey Harper
Honey Harper and the Infinite Sky

2022 alt-country / americana
Another great album, still need some work on details and sounds, but overall its an improvement on their previous album and a good signal for future albums. Wish they keep at it with care and love
