2022, as we speak
following in the footsteps of other, smarter, users, i think i'll be just adding stuff throughtout the year rather than make a list at the end. It's less work and this way i don't have to do all that re-listening stuff. |
1 | | Ruben Slikk Shawty Milkin
stare into the abyss long enough... you're getting cumshot, idiot |
2 | | burial ANTIDAWN EP
i haven't kept up much with Burial post rival dealer, but this is was real neat |
3 | | Earl Sweatshirt Sick!
good production on this one |
4 | | 40 Watt Sun Perfect Light
slowcore that's confident enough to let the music go and stretch as it needs to. Lets go nicely |
5 | | Los Bitchos Let The Festivities Begin!
super chill and fun instrumental psychedelic cumbia |
6 | | JP Bimeni And The Black Belts Give Me Hope
another solid entry of old school soul tunes |
7 | | yeule Glitch Princess
interesting PC Music clone. Something so 2015 in 2022 needs more than quirk to stay above water, and this does |
8 | | Big Thief Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
so many good tracks on this. It's a little too bloated with mid, but the good stuff is SO GOOD |
9 | | Lo Moon A Modern Life
underrated band. There's something really special about the proggy pop anthems they keep turning in. There's a strong vision at the works here, hope they continue to keep at it |
10 | | Widowspeak The Jacket
good tunes, nice atmosphere |
11 | | Jenny Hval Classic Objects
Jenny can SING. and she can write SONGS. I like this more straight-forward art-pop angle she continued to go with after her last EP. Some miss here more experimental side, but for me? this is her best LP, and one of the best to come out this year, ez |
12 | | messa Close
there's a lot to like here, many intense moments |
13 | | billy woods Aethiopes
the production here is really good, and billy slays with the detailed narrations, but this time adding to it some of his best vocal work yet |
14 | | organ tapes Chang Zhe Na Wu Ren Wen Jin De Ge Yao
OT blends, boils and desintegrates his many different influences into pure concentrated nostalgia. Don't get fooled by the simple song structures, it's a lot of work |
15 | | Kikagaku Moyo Kumoyo Island
a lot more chill than previous albums, this is still some of the best stoner-friendly psych-rock out there |
16 | | daniel rossen You Belong There
really good shit, intricate and intimate instrumentation, hypnotic but always engaging... So no, it's nothing like Crack Up. Crack Up is boring and bad. Don't compare them ;) |
17 | | Angel Olsen Big Time
Angel Olsen playing to her strengths as a composer and a performer. Whenever she decides to go full in on her clear fondness for country and americana, that'll be the day. As it stands now, this is clearly her best album. The luke-warm reception by critics and the shit takes by some of her "fans" make me sad. |
18 | | Perfume Genius Ugly Season
P.G. just goes a drops probably his best material to date, the kind of complete break that at the same time feels completely organic... There's still some small tweaks to be made, and i have never been a huge fan of the singing style on his other records, but man i was impressed with thi! |
19 | | Orville Peck Bronco
Peck's dream country sound goes through its next stage in this. More fine-tuned, more confident and better performed overall. Fun album! |
20 | | Soccer Mommy Sometimes, Forever
The indie sound gets a 90's shoegaze-y production from 0PN that gives SM's catchy songwriting a nice bump in texture and soundscape. Not really amazing through and through, but definitely something that makes you excited for more. |
