Hyperion1001 07.01.22	music is just as good now, if not better, than it was in the old days. nostalgia clouds a lot of our perspectives because we tend only to remember the good stuff, but many of my favorite albums came in the last decade or so. it is harder to wade through music now just because of the sheer amount of shit that gets released, but the quality is still there.

Fucked Up's best release is Year of the Pig (one of my favorite songs ever). Pleiades' Dust is the best Gorguts record. Misfits got better when Danzig left. Oranssi Pazuzu's first record is their best one (although I also like the EPs... But the latter LPs just sound too much like post metal to me). Mellon Collie > Siamese Dream.

el_newg 07.01.22	Judas Priest - Turbo fucking RULES and I'd put it in the top half of their discog for sure. I think in general it was well received, but critically it usually gets lower ratings. but for a british band from the 70s, they really nailed that 80s synth glam hollywood hair metal sound better than any of those bands. there are some really killer tunes, Out in the Cold is as good a song as any from their 80s output.

A lot of people seem have a knee-jerk reaction against albums that are super sonically tied to a moment in time, but imo "dated" can be a good thing just as easily as it can be a bad thing.

If you really really like this metal genre, you will probably like it a lot, if long tracks are ok with you. Average sput rating = 3.5 , My rating =4.5
