My Look At Billboard's Alternative
I will be looking at Billboard's Alternative charts and grading them from A-F. rWill do this prob every month |
1 | | Fitz and the Tantrums More Than Just a Dream
"Out of My League" - a sellout song from a decent indie-soul band. Take out sax,
add in synth and this is it. C+ |
2 | | Lorde Pure Heroine
"Royals" - The worst song on her addicting debut, #1 for 7 wks was a bit too much
for it. B- |
3 | | Bastille Bad Blood
"Pompeii" - Decent indie pop with a big hook. Gang chants do turn it off for me a bit
though. AY HEY OH AY HEY OH! B+ |
4 | | Grouplove Spreading Rumours
"Ways to Go" - One of the worst songs I've heard this year; shitty vocals, over-use
of synths and bad lyrics. F |
5 | | Imagine Dragons Night Visions
"Demons" - Coldplay rip off, pretty bland and lifeless too. C+ |
6 | | Cage the Elephant Melophobia
"Come a Little Closer" - Better than Thank You Happy Birthday, but far off from
classics like "In One Ear" or "Rest for the Wicked" B+ |
7 | | Capital Cities In a Tidal Wave of Mystery
"Safe and Sound" - Not alternative; this is shit synth pop. Fuck this song so hard
up its own ass. D+ |
8 | | Tame Impala Lonerism
"Elephant" - Yay, psychedelic on the alternative charts! Lovin' this so much! A+ |
9 | | The Neighbourhood I Love You
"Sweater Weather" - Bland as fuck, bad and lazy rhymes: "house" and "blouse";
hipster indie shit. C |
10 | | Kings of Leon Mechanical Bull
"Supersoaker" - Not worthy for their comeback single, rather boring and simple. B |
11 | | Phoenix Bankrupt!
"Trying to Be Cool" - They can try to be cool, but 1901 was their peak and this is
far off. C+ |
12 | | 30 Seconds to Mars Love Lust Faith + Dreams
"City of Angels" - Overly long, but manages to be one of the best tracks off of their
latest shitfest. B+ |
13 | | New Politics A Bad Girl in Harlem
"Harlem" - It's pretty bland and overplayed on radio. C+ |
14 | | MS MR Secondhand Rapture

15 | | Avicii True
"Wake Me Up!" - This is not fuckin alternative. Shitty EDM and no more. F |
16 | | Panic! at the Disco Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!
"Miss Jackson" - Way too Fall Out Boy rip-off and repetitive. D+ |
17 | | Linkin Park Recharged
"A Light That Never Comes" - Nu-metal sellouts yet again. Steve Aoki dubstep is
what kills this Burn it Down Part 2. D+ |
18 | | Coldplay Atlas
"Atlas" - Bland and lifeless, like everything else Coldplay do. D+ |
19 | | Arcade Fire Reflektor
"Reflektor" - YES! Love this shit. A+ |

"Afraid" - A good redeeming 2nd single after Sweater Weather sucked. B+ |
22 | | Pearl Jam Lightning Bolt
"Sirens" - Kind of bland for Vedder and co., but this is better than most of the other
shit here. B |
