10.03.13 | "Looks like the rolling stones list of best albums from the 90s."
Rolling stone would find a way to put at least 3 Beatles remix LPs on it. |

10.03.13 | Snap |
Judio!
10.03.13 | But there is no such thing as personal preference! You're supposed to only like the bands Sputnik tells you to like! |
MosesMalone
10.03.13 | Which he's already doing, so your advice is redundant. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | @theacademy Coming from the guy whose favorite bands are Morn and Limp Bizkit. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | @Yotimi And how do you suppose? I if I wanted to "impress" people, I would have put something more obscure like Godspeed You!, but I chose to put what I enjoy most regardless of the cliche connotations of my music taste. Being some form of "generic", doesn't discredit the music. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | @avonbarksdale221 Nice Nas reference! |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | Some amazing stuff on here but try branching out a bit. You'll find some incredible stuff out there. |
Yotimi
10.03.13 | Godspeed isn't obscure and would actually fit pretty well with these.
Not saying these are bad (well a couple are) just that its the same list every other pitchforkian makes |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | Well godspeed isn't obscure on sputnik but if you'll find that if you talk to most people out there they will have never heard of them. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | I see where you are coming from, but I can't stand pitchfork. I think nearly every one of the is pretentious. Along with NME. I made this list off the top of my head at 5 a.m. while writing a paper. Looking back, I change a few. But over all I enjoy what I enjoy. Sputnik and Pitchfork won't change that. But just out of objective curiosity, which one's do you consider bad? |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | @Mongi123 That's true. Yesterday was my first day of actual activity on Sputnik, so I don't really know the general music consensus at this point. |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | Says you joined months ago so I assume you just decided to use the account now?
And yea the same goes for progressive music as a whole. If people ask you want kind of music I like and say progressive 75% of the time would be like "What is that?" |
SirDrumsalot
10.03.13 | Nuts to the general music consensus. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | I could probably switch "Is This It" with "Keep It Like a Secret" |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | @Mongi123 Yeah, I just looked up records and rated them. Read some reviews, but mostly just gave my opinion via rating. I am sick of all the other music review websites, so I decided to try this one out some |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | This one is great for the most part and it really helped me branch out to find amazing music. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | That's what I'm attempting to do. I have very open tastes, so I'd give almost anything a chance! But a lot of people on here seem to be just as bad music snobs as Pitchfork staff. |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | What you mean by bad music snobs? |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | Not you at all. But some of the comments I've read, not just on mine, have been very judgmental towards others opinions. "You listen to this, so you must know nothing about music." That type of pretentious attitude just aggravates me |
SirDrumsalot
10.03.13 | There is plenty of the pretentiousness here. But there are a few people that are actually not judgemental. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | Just as in any community. Those are the ones I would like to surround myself with |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | Well people are like that everywhere not just here. Just gotta ignore those pricks. Some of that has been directed at me before and you try have to try to ignore it. |
CK
10.03.13 | So this is a list of sputnik albums |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | Yeah, I know. I'm going to just keep doing my own thing and respond to negativity with sarcasm. That usually works best. |
DominionMM1
10.03.13 | you're gonna get some harsh reaction when you're the ten billionth user to make this list |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | I've told people off before when I have too. When people deliberately insult my taste for no reason I can't stand that shit. |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | Exactly. Or people who seem to think that because a great album become popular, it is immediately discredited and passed off as generic to like it. (e.g. Nevermind) |
CK
10.03.13 | You should check out Nick Drake |
Zachnew
10.03.13 | I was just introduced to him by a girl I met, and I enjoyed what I heard, but didn't up looking into it. I will have to check some of it out, because two people in the past few days |
Yotimi
10.03.13 | Weird that you hate pitchfork considering they love literally all of these and appear very high on their lists except maybe the chili peppers. To answer your question i dont like Wilco and not really into the peppers. 10 is my fav album ever though |
avonbarksdale221
10.03.13 | Dude, you'd love Nick Drake. Get Pink Moon right now. Also try:
Mew - Frengers
The Wrens - The Meadowlands
Laura Stevenson - Wheel
Sigur Ros - Takk
Based on your taste I'd say you enjoy.

10.03.13 | What's with the hate for Avenged Sevenfold |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | avon I'm legit listening to Takk right now haha |
avonbarksdale221
10.03.13 | Nice, digging it more? |
Mongi123
10.03.13 | Holy shit so much more. I think it was a bad Sigur Ros to start with cause I heard that one first but now that I'm used to his voice I love it |
avonbarksdale221
10.04.13 | Yeah man it is amazing, Saeglopur HOLY SHIT |
Mongi123
10.04.13 | Nah man Milano! Shit that song is amazing |
avonbarksdale221
10.04.13 | There are a lot of tracks on here that deserve the HOLY SHIT treatment honestly. The chorus in Milano always puts a smile on my face. |
Mongi123
10.04.13 | Really how could you be in a bad mood while listening to Takk... |
avonbarksdale221
10.04.13 | Kinda impossible |
Zachnew
10.04.13 | Thanks to the recommendations guys! And @Yotimi The Soft Bulletin is an immaculate album. And I Said I hate Pitchfork due to the attitude of the reviewers, but never said I didn't enjoy the music they prefer. I just enjoy things that they don't as well. But I honestly think the Chili Peppers album is more sentimental than anything. That and Dookie were my first albums I purchased |
