11.30.20 | I personally don't think it matters all that much, just get one that's like $300-$350 and you're set. Your technique and recording setup make up 99% of your sound. |

11.30.20 | my favourite acoustic I have is a Simon and Patrick Woodland Cedar which I got for like $350 CAD but it's $530 now for no clear reason |

11.30.20 | ^ Cole’s right. Practice until you’re good enough to warrant spending the extra money on an upgrade, and by that point you’ll be good enough to recognize you don’t need to drop the money on upgrading. Spend enough to get something that isn’t shoddily manufactured and that has a comfortable enough neck feel and you’re set |

11.30.20 | This was the advice I needed, thank you. I'll let you know what I end up with.
@Colton out of curiosity, any tips on recording setup? Over the years I have just played for the hell of it, but I think at this point I would wanna take a stab at recording a bit and have no clue where I would even start. |

11.30.20 | I use two microphones (Rode NT5s), and record into two tracks. Then I pan the left track to the left and the right track to the right. This gives a really nice, wide sound. When recording, I keep the mics about 2ish feet away from me, with the soundhole on my guitar angled to the right a bit. If you point it right at the mics you get a boomy, muddled sort of sound. Then I just add a little bit of reverb usually and that's basically it. That's for classical guitar though, could be a little different for acoustic but probably not too different. |

11.30.20 | oh and also you need software to record into, Studio One is great for recording and it's free. And you need an audio interface to plug your mic/mics into. The most common one is probably the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, it does everything you need. |
