Faraudo 08.30.14	5 is a solid 3, it really has a few gems in it. But I really think that it has a couple of abysmal songs that drag it down.

Faraudo 08.30.14	I really despise Try It On, Safe Without and All of the Ways and to some extent, Memory Serves. Those are probably Interpol's blandest tracks ever.

Faraudo 08.30.14	"Blandest", there is a certain degree of blandness that becomes unbearable, and for me those tracks are as bland as Interpol can get. Well, the All the Rage Back Home/Twice As Hard combo gives any opener/closer a run for it's money, really.

oahmed 08.30.14	Antics, TOTBL, El Pintor, OLTA, and s/t is my order, at least for now. Antics is the album that got me into Interpol, though TOTBL is a very close second. I wouldn't say those songs you listed are bland, just half-cooked but ambitious. Interpol swung for the fences on those instead of being by-the-numbers (with the exception of Safe Without, maybe).

Faraudo 08.30.14	3 was 2 for me after hearing El Pintor for the first time. But after many repeated listens, it definitely got me. S/T could have been a great fucking album if the bass had any participation at all. An example of what S/T could have been if done right is probably the opener Success.

Faraudo 08.30.14	Yeah, more tracks like Barricade, Success, Lights, Summer Well and The Undoing would've probably made for a pretty solid release.
theTourist 09.10.14	Memory Serves is boring and bland (tons of people walked out to get a drink/take a piss when I saw them play it in concert), but Try It On, All the Ways, and The Undoing flow ridiculously well together. S/T is indeed underrated overall. It works as an album but only Barricade and maybe Lights really work outside of the context of the surrounding songs. Kind of the opposite of the problem Antics had, which was basically just a string of good songs with very little holding them together. El Pintor is fantastic so far (I've listened through it four times now).
