First Quarter Favorites
Pretty good first quarter, out of all of these I absolutely love the top 5 or so, and the last 5 or 6 are the ones that still need to grow on me some more. |
20 | | Hell-O-Hill Maelstrom
Blow Your Fucking Brains Out. Punk RAWK. |
19 | | The Saddest Landscape After the Lights
I really wish this could have been higher, but it was just way too much of the same. |
18 | | Every Time I Die Ex Lives
One of the most consistent bands in their scene, dont see this having too much staying power for me, aside from Underwater Bimbos |
17 | | Ceremony Zoo
Screw the haters, this is an awesome effort in the vein of classic punk |
16 | | Boxer Undertow
Solid as hell pop-punk, a great listen from start to finish that makes me excited for their full length |
15 | | Caravels/Gifts From Enola Well Worn |
14 | | Roar I'm Not Here to Make Friends |
13 | | Loma Prieta I.V.
Great cd, but I don't think I am as into it as most of the people on this site. |
12 | | Departures Green Turns to Red, Then To Gold
Melodic hardcore done right. As good as their full length was, I'm starting to prefer them in smaller doses like this. |
11 | | No Trigger Tycoon
Kicks ass all the way through. |
10 | | The Sidekicks Awkward Breeds
Reminds me of old old old Weezer with more of an edge. |
9 | | State Faults Desolate Peaks
Skramz as fuck. Best I have heard all year (sorry Loma Prieta) |
8 | | The Mars Volta Noctourniquet
Weird as hell, but surprisingly listenable compared to some of their other stuff (i'm not the biggest fan of prog) and a few of the songs on here seem to be the closest we are ever going to get to new ATDI songs, which is definitely a plus. |
7 | | Andrew Bird Break It Yourself
Should have listened to this guy a long time ago, this is mainly so high because it got me into his older stuff, but that doesn't mean it isn't awesome |
6 | | Joyce Manor Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired
Nowhere near as good as their self titled, but after giving it time to grow on me I have started to really enjoy their more indie oriented sound. Would have broken the top five here but it just feels lacking in length. Seeing them at the end of the month with Andrew Jackson Jihad!! |
5 | | Burial Kindred
Yeah, well....duh. |
4 | | Spraynard Exton Square
This perfect little burst of pop-punk already dibs'd being the soundtrack to my summer... |
3 | | Veils Clarity
Absolutely fantastic female fronted skramz ep, hectic and brutal and melodic and awesome. It's short as hell so there is no excuse not to at least give it a try |
2 | | The Menzingers On the Impossible Past
It took a while for me to get over the fact that this wasn't Chamberlain Waits Pt. 2 (where's muh screams!), but when I did this album pretty much clicked perfectly. Also, growing up in Scranton PA gives me a very small amount of hometown pride. Seeing them at the end of April! |
1 | | Cursive I am Gemini
Easily my favorite of the year, it has a killer concept/lyrics, is catchy as fuck, and sounds like Cursive trying harder than they have in years. Saw them play about half this cd last night, which just further cemented this as my personal favorite |
