01.30.12 | I'm not saying you have to like Susan Boyle, Attack Attack, or Nickelback because I surely don't. |
omnipanzer
01.30.12 | "What if this albums was instead released by Nickelback?"
If Nickleback released music this good they would have a better reputation thereby nullifying your point... I think. |

01.30.12 | faux philosophy
these don't even make sense |
Timmons
01.30.12 | so with the sound and vocals of nickelback etc? no where near as many people would like the devil and god if chad kroeger sang it.
jane doe wouldn't be as popular but it would totally change peoples opinion on attack attack!
21 wouldn't sound that different if susan boyle did it |
Nikkolae
01.30.12 | as far as im concerned, i dont care about nickelback, if they wrote TDAGARIM and it was the same i wouldnt mind except for chad's awful voice, dont care about susan boyle, and if attack attack put out jane doe i wouldnt be able to take it seriously with their singer's voice and all. |
EyeForAnEye
01.30.12 | Let's take vocals out of the equation.
Let's say that Chad Kroeger used some magic to have a voice like Jesse Lacey |
Yuli
01.30.12 | There's a reason that these scenarios didn't happen. |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.30.12 | I can't take Jane Doe seriously with Bannon's vocals anyway
I think you should also consider what would happen if the whole site started digging some shit band (lets say bmth); would some people swing from hating to loving |
Nikkolae
01.30.12 | if thats the case
If Nickleback released music this good they would have a better reputation thereby nullifying your point... I think. [2] |

01.30.12 | What if Jeff Mangum was a dog?
This could never happen so whats the point of asking

01.30.12 | "I think you should also consider what would happen if the whole site started digging some shit band (lets say bmth); would some people swing from hating to loving"
Absolutely. We've all seen it swing the other way for quite a few bands: Circle Takes the Square, Dream Theater, Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, etc.
Or maybe it's just which ever opinion is vocally loudest at the time. |
Trebor.
01.30.12 | Don't you dare lump those bands with btbam |
iambandersnatch
01.30.12 | There's definitely some brainwashing that goes on. It's natural to want to feel accepted so some people make themselves like whatever is popular. There's nothing wrong with listening to something to see what the fuss is about (there must be a reason why it's popular, right?) but if you end up not liking it then you shouldn't force yourself to like it or pretend to like it. This discussion is a difficult one (and probably pointless) since there's no easy way to know whether someone is pretending or not. |

01.30.12 | If Jane Doe came out in 2010, metalcore would've been completely different and thus it would still be completely, mindblowingly different. |
NeutralThunder12
01.30.12 | no because jesus christ is brilliant and photograph is the worst song of all time, but I get what you're doing here. Your thing about Jane Doe is actually kinda possible, but a highly unlikely situation and Jane Doe was a grower album for most people that took time to fully engross yourself in and appreciate. So thats kinda possible, but HIGHLY unlikely. |

01.30.12 | Also, Brand New isn't very good. |
Trebor.
01.30.12 | yeah |
