01.14.12 | My fav gig will still be korn's remember who you are tour in 2010 with Dimmu Borgir as the opening act
oh man |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Yeah DaveyBoy.
Muse's greatest tour in my opinion, the setlist and the stage deco was really impressive.
Unforgettable show.
@Ty
Never seen Korn live. |

01.14.12 | I saw that Muse show too

TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Thanks man. |
NightProwler
01.14.12 | Wow, some really awesome concerts! So jealous that you've seen Pink Floyd in 1994. I've only seen the Pulse DvD, and it's really good.
I've bought tickets for Black Sabbath as well this year. Sure hope Iommi'll get better. |
JamieTwort
01.14.12 | I would have loved to have been able to see a lot of these. Good list. |
AliW1993
01.14.12 | I saw Maiden for the first time last year and was slightly underwhelmed. They were great and all but not as unbelievably amazing as I'd been led to believe. |
SpiritCrusher2
01.14.12 | @TheNotrap haha well yeah, you're not that old. I'm 18 and I've already seen metallica, maiden, megadeth and sepultura, but I wish I could've seen them in their prime like you did. |

01.14.12 | @NightProwler
Yeah, first and only time I've seen my favourite band live. No words can describe my feelings towards that show.
The stadium was sold-out. More than 80.000 Floyd fans...Best show I've ever seen.
Me and some mates we're planning to see Sabbath in England...let's hope Iommi'll get better.
@JT
Thanks JT. Yeah, you probably haven't been born yet to see some of these ;-)
@SpiritCrusher
Yes, I had the chance to see most of my favourite bands in their prime time. But I wished to have seen Maiden in the 80's, on their World Slavery Tour m/ |
rockandmetaljunkie
01.14.12 | You are blessed in some kind of way man.
Seeing a band in it's prime can be a life changing experience. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Yes I'm lucky to have seen some of my favourite bands in their prime (or almost).
But I didn't have the chance to see:
Black Sabbath
Dio
Ozzy Osbourne
Helloween (with their classic line-up, specially supporting Maiden on the Seventh Son Tour)
Queen
Led Zeppelin
...
Shame.
What's the best gig you've ever seen? (just curious)
|
rockandmetaljunkie
01.14.12 | Well i haven't been in too many concerts to be honest. My first gig goes back in 2009 when i saw Slipknot and Mastodon. Few weeks later i saw Linkin Park.
Next year i saw the big 4 and Scorpions.
2011 was my gig breakthrough.
I saw Iron Maiden, Roger Waters, Cathedral, Candlemass, Trouble, Iced Earth, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, and Opeth
Unfortunately i missed some great gigs during these years like Accept's in february 2011, Electric Wizard's in April 2011 Saxon's on the same month, AC/DC's concert in May 2009, and Aerosmith's gig in June 2010.
For this year, i already have bought my ticket for Sabbath's gig (hopefully they can make it), and i will definetly see Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lamb Of God. I haven't decided yet if i will spend my money on Red Hot Chili Peppers's gig.
My highlights thus far are the gigs of Candlemass, Cathedral, Big Four, Iron Maiden, Roger Waters, and Judas Priest. |

btw what's the best gig you've ever seen? |
Irving
01.14.12 | I am in perpetual envy of folks who have seen the Floyd live.
My personal best shows were U2 in 2011 (360 Tour, and yeah I know the Sput hates them but WHATEVER) and Metallica in 2008 (World Magnetic Tour). The Ottawa show from Soundgarden's comeback gig last year was also pretty great. I've seen Maiden too, but tbh like Ali I was a bit underwhelmed. |
Jethro42
01.14.12 | mmm I havent seen enough gigs for my taste, Notrap. But if you ask me, I'd say Rush' Grace Under Pressure featuring Marillion. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | @Irving
Yes I had the chance to see their last tour.
Some mates told me that the 360 Tour was awesome, unfortunately I couldn't make it.
@Jethro the 2012 Prog Warrior
Marillion with Fish....so damn P/ Never saw the classic line-up live. Lucky dude ;-) |
Jethro42
01.14.12 | yea that was memorable! They played Misplaced Childhood in its entirety! Unforgettable. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | "Misplaced Childhood in its entirety!"
Memorable indeed. |
Nagrarok
01.14.12 | You saw both Priest and Maiden just before they parted ways and again after they reunited with their lead singers, nice; Metallica before they started going downhill, Floyd's final tour and then caught up with Waters later. Now that is something to be proud of. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Cheers Nagrarok
Yes I have a cool gig portfolio I guess. Never missed the chance to see my favourite bands live, however I also missed some classic acts like Ozzy, Dire Straits, Dio or Marillion. |
Nagrarok
01.14.12 | Forget about seeing Ozzy solo, when Iommi hopefully beats his cancer you should go for Sabbath's reunion tour. Dire Straits will reunite at some point, I have no doubt. I was slightly dissapointed when I saw Maiden last year, sadly not everyone warmed up to their newer songs. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | I'm planning to see Sabbath in England this year.
How can the dudes warmed up to their newer songs? The songs are very average imo. I don't like "The Final Frontier".
I saw Maiden live 5 times already. My favourite shows were the No Prayer On The Road and Brave New World Tour. |
Nagrarok
01.14.12 | Obviously it's not up to par with most of their work, but I still like The Final Frontier. It was a mistake playing half the album in the set, especially with those song lengths. Their performance was as energetic as ever though, they played nearly two and a half hours. |
bonus
01.14.12 | Saw Floyd on that same tour in Miami.
Already saw Sabbath with Tony, but no Ozzy in 82 with the Mob Rules Tour.
I've seen some greats; but always wanted Zeppelin.
Although I did go to the Page Plant Tour |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Dude you saw the Mob Rules Tour...you saw Mr. Ronnie James Dio live.

01.14.12 | Awesome, man. Those are some legendary shows. I've seen also Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth, but it must have been a whole different experience in the 90s. I also saw Muse, but that was shortly after Absolution came out in 2003. Great show. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | I saw almost all Muse tours I and all gigs were brilliant. My first Muse live experience was in their Origin of Symmetry Tour on a summer festival. After that show I immediately bought the album.
Amazing live band. |
Athom
01.14.12 | Yeah, you need to see Sabbath live. Saw both Sabbath and Heaven and Hell and both were incredible. |

DinoX
01.14.12 | nice list. I always kind of wondered is it worth seeing a progressive band that is generally reliant on the flow of the album to see live? Obviously if you are a big fan it is, but I just feel like some progressive bands are quite weak when dissected. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Thanks man.
Some of them are surely weak however the difference between an average and a great band relies basically on their songwriting abilities and live performances.
And you are right, some progressive bands sound better on record than live. |
Coast
01.14.12 | Sepultura - Melbourne, July 3, 1992 (My first metal gig)
Metallica - Paris, June 13, 1993. I was in France as an exchange student and missed Metallica touring Australia with Kyuss (saw Kyuss lives last year at least), but managed to see Metallica in France. The Cult were practically booed off stage. Suicidal were great. Alice in Chains were part of that tour I think but were rostered off or something.
Slayer touring with Biohazard in '98 was one of my fav gigs. Seeing Slayer blew me away. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | "The Cult were practically booed off stage. Suicidal were great."
Exactly the same thing happened on the show I saw. People were trowing grass and bottles over Ian Astbury.
Suicidal ruled damn hard. You Can't Bring Me Down was definitely the highlight.
Saw Slayer twice. On "Somewhere Back in Time World Tour" supporting Maiden and on their last tour. Both gigs were very cool but their performance supporting Maiden was better. |
Coast
01.14.12 | Ian Astbury was really cracking the shits at the crowd.
Wish I'd seen Pink Floyd and hope all works out and we get to see Sabbath. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | I hope so. I need to see the legend live while those guys were still alive. |

01.14.12 | ''...is it worth seeing a progressive band that is generally reliant on the flow of the album to see live?''
A prog band that knows how to prog is able to perform live as well. Wat a question. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | ^ Indeed.
Do you ever seen Genesis live? |
Jethro42
01.14.12 | Yes, I was to specify it sooner in your list but didnt finally.
I've seen them 3 times. While we're at it, their song's rendition live is totally stunning. So powerful and well crafted. Songs are often better live as if it was possible to do so! And their two drummers in action. God. In b4, sadly, I was too young to see them with Gabriel in the lineup. |
TheNotrap
01.14.12 | Sounds like 3 amazing gigs.
Shame I missed Genesis live. I hope they reunite one of these days to see some gems live like: Turn It On Again, Duchess, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, In the Cage, The Carpet Crawlers, Land of Confusion,... |
Nagrarok
01.15.12 | ^somehow I don't think Genesis will follow those other older bands, there was already talk of a reunion a few years ago when they were still performing as a trio, before Collins retired, and nothing came of that. Hackett and Gabriel still have active solo careers, so... |
spillingmercury
01.15.12 | So envious you got to see Pink Floyd. Would love to see Maiden too. Only thing I can connect to is Muse, but I saw them in 2010 so the setlist wasn't my favourite. Still an incredible show. |
