Another 2011 Albums List

Talk about originality, at least I actually waited for 2011 to be over rbefore I made mine.
25Lights
SIberia

I'm a sucker for good female electro pop. I couldn't resist putting this
somewhere on the list.
24Thursday
No Devolucion

One of their best perhaps?
23Title Fight
Shed

These guys are awesome. Seeing them live helps.
22The Devin Townsend Project
Ghost

Cheesy but yet hauntingly gorgeous.
21 Punch
Nothing Lasts

Okay this is technically an EP and it's nothing new to Punch's discography
but it's got their catchiest song yet "Do It Yourself". Also it marks them
being signed to Deathwish.inc which is pretty sweet.
20Mitochondrion
Parasignosis

Hmmm.... Blackened Death... Not my usual cup of tea but this is good.
19Beau Navire
Hours

As Screamo is quickly becoming one of my favourite qenres of music it'd be
stupid not to put this somewhere on the list.
18City and Colour
Little Hell

The most cohesive City and Colour album. Each song is pretty memorable
unlike some of his previous albums.
17James Blake
James Blake

I didn't listen to this much the second half of the year but I absolutekly
abused it in the first.
16Counterparts
The Current Will Carry Us

Jumping Ship is such a sweet whatever-core song. These guys are a force to
be reckoned with within the now pretty generic core scene. Now if only they jumped off Victory's ship.
15Owen
Ghost Town

The guy behind American Football is still awesome.
14 Raein
Sulla linea d'orizzonte tra questa mia vita e que

Wish they toured to Western Australia with Loma Prieta. Those eastern staters don't know how lucky they are.
13CityCop
The Hope In Forgiving & Giving Up Hope

People have been really liking the E.P. round these parts but they actually
also released an album this year and it's just as good.
12Touche Amore
Parting The Sea Between Brightness and Me

Doesn't get as much praise round here than it should. I thought it was just okay
when I first heard it but after seeing them live it made this album make so
much more sense. One of the best live bands on the planet ATM.
11Tim Hecker
Ravedeath, 1972

The second best ambient album of 2011 with Rave in it's title.
10The Jezabels
Prisoner

Second best Aussie album. Endless Summer is such a stunning track.
9Departures
When Losing Everything Is Everything You Wanted

Love Let Me Go v2.0 not necessarily a bad thing.
8Submotion Orchestra
Finest Hour

Like Deviant I've liked this band since their EP and this album is just pure win.
7Crash of Rhinos
Distal

Noodley Mathy Mid-west-esque emo from the UK. Emo album of the year.
6Pianos Become the Teeth
The Lack Long After

I've always had Old Pride in my library but never really got it. But then I heard
Houses We Die In and this band quickly became one of my favourite bands of
all time. This album doesn't dissapoint.
5Bon Iver
Bon Iver, Bon Iver

A happier Justin Vernon, weird at first but then it makes so much sense.
4Mahria
S/T Cassette

Short, fast, noodly + Female vocals. This is brilliant.
3Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu
Rrakala

Blindness doesn't stop this guy from making the best Australian album of
2011. Everyone needs to listen to this.

1The Weeknd
Echoes of Silence

His best by a mile. The reviews don't lie.
