Why Either/or?
I really don't understand why everybody always say that Either/Or is Elliott's best album. I understand that "Angeles" and "Between the Bars" are some of the best songs ever recorded but you can't say it's his best album just because of that. So these are my ES albums ranked. |
1 | | Elliott Smith Elliott Smith
Every song on this album is perfect. There's so many thing I can say about this album. And "The Biggest Lie" may just be the best song ever made. Not to mention "Needle In The Hay". |
2 | | Elliott Smith From A Basement On The Hill
Many may argue with this one but this album had to grow on me. With song like "Fond Farewell" "King's Crossing" and "Twilight" this album is perfect. And the underrated "Little One" is maybe ES most personal and emotional song. |
3 | | Elliott Smith XO
If I have to explain this one your not a real ES fan. |
4 | | Elliott Smith Roman Candle
I always feel bad not putting this album number one and every list it's in but it's short is that takes away from it. I still feel like Elliott could've and should've made this longer. |
5 | | Elliott Smith Either/Or
I'm a die hard ES fan and I love this album but I think people are crazy to consider this his best work. Like I said before this album has some breath taking songs but with songs like "Ballad of Big Nothing", "Punch and Judy", and "Cupid's Trick" I don't see how people say this album is perfect. Those songs are good but they are some of my least favorite ES songs. "Abused" definitely should've been on this album. |
6 | | Elliott Smith Figure 8
"I Better Be Quiet Now" is my favorite ES song of all time but alot of these songs feel a bit commercial. Alot of these songs are much better live. Still a great album but I don't feel like Elliott's heart was in it as much as his other projects. |
