11.06.11 | Come on JWT, GAP has nice stuff and Banana Republic rules |
JWT155
11.06.11 | Agreed, I like a lot of stuff at both stores, but the Gap to me has really bland conservative clothing, which is fine. |

11.06.11 | I went to Abercrombie and Fitch and tried on an XXL long sleeve and it was still too tight. |

11.07.11 | I don't waste money on clothes

11.07.11 | Abercrombie, American Eagle, Aeropostale, ect are all so grade schoolish. I stick to Ralph Lauren, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger now. |

11.07.11 | Why don't you guy's wear heelies hand in hand to the GAP together? |
ITsHxCTOASTER
11.07.11 | "Abercrombie, American Eagle, Aeropostale, ect are all so grade schoolish. I stick to Ralph Lauren, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger now."
Yeah the first part is right about this but also the second part is kinda tryhard. You can get the same kind of stuff from plenty other companies cheaper and without visible logos. And just because it has a Polo logo or Lacoste alligator on it doesn't mean it looks nice. |
JWT155
11.07.11 | Agreed. |

11.07.11 | "Get over yourselves, it's just clothing."
I mean I kinda have an interest in fashion and I derive pleasure from dressing the way I feel is nice, so it's more important to me than it is to you. Nothing wrong with either of our opinions on clothes here I guess. I feel like you think I don't dress well at all and hate the "prep" clothing because that's what's "cool" and the "cool" kids are jackasses. No, it just irks me when people wear a shirt with the word "HOLLISTER" in massive letters on the front of it and automatically think they're fashionable and dressed nicely. |

11.07.11 | All my old clothes my mom used to buy for me are from GAP lol |
ITsHxCTOASTER
11.07.11 | Haha it's funny how when you grow out of the phase where your mom buys clothes for you, you decide those clothes are horribly ugly and you try to be trendy and buy whatever fits the scene you want to be a part of in middle school or whatever, and then later you realize that some of the stuff they bought you was actually nice and your parents kinda knew their shit. I mean some of it is still ugly as shit though, like cargo shorts. |
Yuli
11.07.11 | I come back from work, and lo and behold, comments galore.
Yeah they played Empire Ants by Gorillaz today... Made my day, thank you very much
And I didn't ever think so before I spent a lot of time there, but GAP actually has surprisingly trendy clothes... I got a nice blazer last week, and they have cool v-necks and sweaters and whatnot. 30% employee discount, hells yeah.
And HXCToaster I agree with you; fashion's a fun way to express yourself, and it also draws in a particular crowd that you tend to fit in with rather well. |

11.07.11 | Nailed it Omaha. |
toxin.
11.07.11 | Yeah that was me pretty much. The middle school clothing was pretty shit, and even though I still have a few brand name shirts I wear, most of the stuff my mom picks is actually ace. I guess as a woman she should have better fashion taste than me anyways. |
JWT155
11.07.11 | When I was in middle school, 95% of kids wore the same clothes, none of this "be different" shit and
cliques today. |
toxin.
11.07.11 | I was in middle school just four years ago and everyone wore the same stuff so this 'be different' stuff must be really new. |
ITsHxCTOASTER
11.07.11 | Well yeah I guess the cliques REALLY start happening in high school, but it kinda happens in middle school. Most scene kids begin building that image in middle school, for example. |
Yuli
11.07.11 | FromDaHood the new Justice isn't bad, honestly; don't see why it gets the bad rep
And yeah, middle school is where the "striving to be different" starts. Hence, the kids that wear black. I was kinda one of them, but dressed more maturely in high school. Now I pretty much always dress formally places; it's just fun looking spiffy. |
toxin.
11.07.11 | Maybe my school's different because there are really only four cliques (two sets of two that overlap).
The honors kids and the non-honors kids.
The clean kids and the party-kids. I guess then there's the weird people who are clean (or might not be) but no one likes them.
But yeah, there's no 'popular' kids or 'nerds' or 'preps' at my school, at least. There are random kids who think they're popular though but various groups have them |
Yuli
11.07.11 | That's interesting, mine didn't work that way at all. We had very popular people, and preps, nerds, goths, etc. I think because the county I came from is the 7th richest in the nation, people have the ability to wear a lot of different clothes so they decide to express themselves a lot. Kids are spoiled around here, man... But although there were many cliques in my high school, there weren't ever problems among them. People just stuck to themselves. |
toxin.
11.07.11 | I'm in this 'bubble' in Orange County, CA. I mean people here are rich but most people dress like normal teens, i.e., brand name shirts and jeans or something.
It might also be I just don't know/care enough about fashion to be able to notice the different cliques (that are more based around groups of friends than dress or like popularity). |
Yuli
11.07.11 | Yeah i know what you mean. There were definitely a lot of kids that dressed up in Hollister/American Eagle in middle school, and while the number decreased some with high school there were still very many. It's kind of the go-to fashion for those that don't know how to dress; not saying that everybody who wears Hollister doesn't know anything about fashion, of course. They have some nice clothes there for sure. I'm just not a fan of huge letters and advertisements... I prefer for my shirts to be more subtle than that, or at least grabbing in another way. |
