| Guitar Dilemma
I have a situation which allows me to choose between two guitars but cannot afford both, like most people. Both have outstanding qualities that would tempt me to purchase the instrument, but again... I'm not made of money. Help? | 1 | PRS Mikael Akerfeldt SE
Opeth is within my top 3 favourite bands, and PRS is my favourite brand of guitar. But the fact that it`s Opeth`s signature guitar isn`t the only reason. It`s a beatiful Mahogany guitar with gold (colour lol) hardware, and the signature bird inlay design. But, some of the stuff that my band plays requires a whammy bar with a floyd rose bridge, which is not a feature on this particular instrument. Price: Approx- $649.99 http://www.musicradar.com/totalguitar/prs-se-mikael-kerfeldt-first-look-252600#!1 | 2 | Ibanez RGA
This is great for playing metal, which is what my band plays primarily. It has a whammy bar with a floyd rose, 24 frets, and a beautiful wood grain finish. But, in the end, it`s not as versatile an instrument as the PRS. Price: Approx- $750 http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eg_page11.php?area_id=2&data_id=205&color=CL01&year=2011&cat_id=1&series_id=479 | |

09.19.11 | I would definitely save a hundred bucks and get the better guitar. Paul Reed Smiths are really good guitars, and also aesthetically beautiful. But for all practical reasons it sounds like you need the Ibanez. | bloc
09.19.11 | If you REALLY don't mind the fact that there's a big golden O on the PRS then I suggest you go with that since you like the brand and the band. | Scoot

09.19.11 | Yeah, it's funny how that guitar isn't nearly as nice as the ones Akerfeldt actually plays. |
