08.31.11 My Top 5 Favourite Emotional Songs

My Top 5 Favourite Emotional Songs

the following songs are the songs which i enjoy and which move me emotionally. it probably wont be great though as its my first list on here. Also i am only including 1 song per band, otherwise this song would be full of nothing but Radiohead songs. Also i am not emo.
1Radiohead
No Surprises

What can i say about this song? it sounds beautiful, it is incredibly memorable, the singing is just perfect, all of the instruments go together flawlessly, and it somehow makes me feel extremely happy yet sad at the same time. It makes me think of someone who is tired of this world, and as his life comes to an end, he is finally at peace. It is easily one of the best songs I have ever heard, and arguably, one of the best songs of all time.
2Bring Me The Horizon
15 Fathoms Counting

I never though I would hear such a beautiful and emotional song from the band Bring Me The Horizon, let alone on their heaviest album, "Count Your Blessings." It is also a song which is nothing like any other song by this band. First of all, there is absolutely no vocals whatsoever and the drumming is slow and calming. But what really steals the show is the acoustic guitars. They sound so calming (I know i am probably gong to be repeating that word a few times, but the song is just well..really calming) and they perfectly mix major and minor notes together, with a perfect sense of flow. The bass is very noticeable, but to be honest, i feel the same about it as i do the guitars really, it couldn't suit the song more. This song makes me feel as if i am at the end of something, for example my childhood, and am looking back on all the great memories and times I have had. Its easily Bring Me The Horizon's best song, and that's coming from one of their fans.
3Slipknot
Vermillion Pt.2 (Bloodstone Remix)

Probably the hardest thing for me while making this list was deciding which Slipknot song would be on here. I had to chose between "Vermilion Pt.2" and the "bloodstone" remix of it, "Danger Keep away" and "Snuff" While I love all of those songs, i had to go with "Vermilion Pt.2 (bloodstone remix)" simply because it does something that i find quite rare (aside from Radiohead), show pure emotion using electronic sound effects. The first half of the song is very depressing and quiet, with an electronic version of the melody from the original son, a very simple drum beat composed of almost nothing but light taps on the symbol, and Corey Taylor singing at his softest. It sounds beautiful. But, halfway through the song, a very heavy and distorted guitar comes in, changing the tone of the song, but not completely, while the drumming picks up and increases in volume. This Gives of a high amount of the feeling of despair and desperation, while Corey Voice sounds hauntingly dark and full of emotion. The song ends with the music being just like how it was in the first half of the song, while Corey's voice hauntingly sing the line "she, isn't real. I cant make her real" as the song slowly fades out.
4Foo Fighters
Everlong (Acoustic Version)

The original version of Everlong is fantastic, but the acoustic version beats it in almost every way. I prefer Dave Grohl's singing on this version, the song sounds more unique, and it sound a lot more emotional. It also sounds alot quieter. By far the best version is on the Foo Fighters "Greatest Hits" CD
5Green Day
Good Riddance (Time of your life)

Okay, so this choice is kinda clich?', but it's a great song. Easily one of Green Days best. I was thinking of putting Green Day's "Wake me up when September ends." On the list instead, but while that song only really gives me the feeling of sadness, this one makes me think of sadness, but also happiness and the feeling of things getting better than they were. Damn, "20th century breakdown" is no where near this good.
