Samshine's Guide To Summer

There's obviously some debate about what constitutes a "summer rrecord" and for the most part rrrit's an obvious personal decision. rThese are the albums that my ears ache to hear when the rrsun ris rfinally out. Recs are always recommended.
45La Dispute
Vancouver

Because it's where I spend my summers and Because a Samshine list
needs La Dispute.

part of my summer last year..soo.. summer album.. yeah..
38Silversun Pickups
Carnavas

Everyone's so intimately rearranged, Everyone's so focus clearly with SUCH
SHINE.
37Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago

So calming.

Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down

Can't stop whisteling that stupid riff from 5 years time. Also, this is the first
song i learned how to play on the ukulele and what else screams summer
than a ukulele.
29The Sea and Cake
The Fawn

Interesting SongWritting and pays an amazing amount of attention to
detail.
28Modest Mouse

Song just reminds me of summer because of covering it with a guy from
highschool on the last day of my grade 12 year.

Either/Or

Screams Summer
26Matthew Good Band

21Van Halen
Van Halen

Best Album For Picking Up Chicks In Your Trans Am.
20The National
Boxer

Although Matt's voice feels like it is the centerpiece for this band, they've
got the whole dining room table set. The instrumentation is at its finest in
this album. The National has given the average man something to relate to
in the sense that there is a common ground.
19Fucked Up
David Comes To Life

If you havn't already listened to it, do it now.
18Armistice
Armistice

Your go-to album for sitting on a beach side patio at sunset.
17City and Colour

Dallas' better album yet. This easy listen is tied with catchy yet soothing
guitar riffs and beautiful lyrics.

Self-explanitory
15Beulah
The Coast is Never Clear

If there was ever an album to drive down the California coast in your best
friend's '67 Beetle, this was the one.
14Rx Bandits
...And the Battle Begun

Based in California, this band floods a unique, up-beat summer sound.
13At the Drive-In
Relationship of Command

Pure and Unadulterated.
12Fleet Foxes
Helplessness Blues

Walking into the nearest starbucks at the end of a hot day this album will
be playing, guaranteed.
11 Beastie Boys
Paul's Boutique

Best Pool Party Soundtrack....If You Only Had a Pool
10Red Hot Chili Peppers
Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Chili's breakout album floods my speakers every summer with there funky,
distinguishing sound. A guaranteed good time.
9The Tallest Man on Earth
The Wild Hunt

Aside from astonishing, continuous guitar riffs and an entrancing yet
acquired vocal style, I am left completely floored every time I listen to this
album. The Swedish folk artists' upbeat sound is raw and passionate.
Kristian Mattson isn't caught up in the worldwide music scene. He has his
own natural sound; him and his guitar. (Aside from "Kids on the Run" which
incorporates piano.) His sound is clean and he hits each note effortlessly.
The fact that he accomplishes this and does vocals the same time is beyond
me.
8The Hold Steady
Boys and Girls in America

Best Album For People Who Wish Bruce Springsteen Made More Drug
References.
7 The Gaslight Anthem
The '59 Sound

Chill, fun and catchy album to be playing at the beach.
6Andrew Bird
Armchair Apocrypha

Each song is so interestingly crafted, melodic yet there is nothing run of the
mill about these songs.
5The Devin Townsend Project
Ghost

This will be pumping through my speakers when i'm lying on the beach with
my boyfriend in august on vacation.
4The Dear Hunter
The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)

Possible compilation of the summer, defs. Album can fit any mood.
3The Beach Boys
Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)

Your Reason: Just because this had to be on here.
2Bob Marley and The Wailers
Catch a Fire

Well, what could be better for summer than Bob Marley? Oh right, half-
naked girls.
1Sublime
40 Oz. to Freedom

We've all heard this album and we can all agree this reminds us of summer.
