| 10 Biggest Dissapointments By Bands I Enjoy Thus Far | 1 | | Cryptopsy The Unspoken King
My favorite death metal band of all time. I know a lot of people don't like
DiSalvo, but I'll never understand why. Whisper Supremacy was pure genius,
and ...And Then You'll Beg, while not the best, is still pretty good IMO. Hell, I
even really liked Once Was Not (the return of Lord Worm!) which goes against
popular opinion. Imagine my dissapointment when one of the most brutal,
techinical, and intelligent death metal bands of all time decides to become
metal/emocore. I tried to like it for a long time, because admittedly not all
metalcore is horrible. But this is. This is worse than the worst Bullet for my
Valentine or Killswitch Engage album, IMO. No redeeming qualities. Nothing I
enjoy in music makes even the slightest appearance on this album. All of my
dreams have been shattered. | 2 | | Metallica St. Anger
This is very obvious, so I won't even mention the laughable lyrics, overlong
simplistic songs that don't progress at all, Lars' "bangin' on a trash can the Doug
Funny" way and the lack of guitar solos...damnit, guess I just did. Back in
2002/2003, Metallica was one of my favorite bands. This album nearly made
me weep in horror (not the good kind). | 3 | | Morbid Angel Illud Divinum Insanus
I actually didn't mind this album the first time I heard it. I think it's because I
was in shock. That's how not good this album is-I went into shock because I
couldn't handle the atrocity that is this album. | 4 | | Slayer Diabolus In Musica
Damnit, damnit, damnit! Why nu metal? WHYYYYYYY!!?!?!? YOU'RE SLAYER,
DAMNIT! | 5 | | Megadeth Risk
lol | 6 | | Fear Factory Transgression
Love Archetype. After that I was really looking forward to this. Oh well, at least
they made up for it with Mechanize. | 7 | | Judas Priest Nostradamus
So much hype...I expected greatness :( | 8 | | Devin Townsend Devlab
This isn't a bad album, but my expectations are so high for Devin that it
shocked me that I wasn't absolutely in love with it. Probably the only album by
him I'm not totally in love with. Either way, still not horrible, but I thought it
was worth a mention. | 9 | | Dream Theater Systematic Chaos
Though this is my favorite band of all time, I'm putting this disappointment
towards the end because it has it's moments (mainly the epic two-piece track).
As I just said, I am a massive Dream Theater fan and I had great expectations
for this album after Octavarium, which I thought was their best in years.
Instead I got a bunch of bad rip off songs that are annoying, and horrible shout
outs to Metallica, Muse and whatever else was on this incredibly mediocre
record. I also found myself agreeing with most of the naysayers that I usually
fought against. This album is the prime example of Dream Theater not being
able to write songs, but rather expecting to grab your attention through
obnoxious and random fret raping. | 10 | | Dave Matthews Band Stand Up
When a jam band can even make these songs good live, you know it's bad. | |

06.16.11 | I don't get all the hate for 4
Maybe it's just that I don't hate nu-metal with a passion like most people on this site. | Paradiso
06.16.11 | Didn't Metallica add in solos when they did St. Anger songs live? Dunno if I dreamed that or not...
List seems right on to me | Remer17
06.16.11 | Yeah I'm not one of these "SLAYERRR!!" guys. Quite frankly I'm tired of hearing a million songs that sound like they could be on Reign in Blood. I think Diabolus is a decent album. I don't think it's Nu Metal either. | ButcheredChildren
06.16.11 | I liked 4, and 6 | botb
06.16.11 | can agree with this. | North0House2
06.16.11 | EITS let me down so much this year.
So did Moving Mountains. | fsharptrit0ne
06.16.11 | Didn't hate Take Care nearly as much as other.
But than again, I wasn't expecting much. | BloodSweatandBeers
06.16.11 | yep these all suck | pizzamachine
06.16.11 | 7 is just so awful. | FatChickIrl
06.16.11 | fuck you on 7 that album is great | xenocide.
06.16.11 | I'm disappointed by your list of disappointments, 'cause I've seen it 10k times before. | Psychopathologist
06.16.11 | "When a jam band can even make these songs good live, you know it's bad"
MIND=BLOWN | Remer17
06.16.11 | ^^^ lolwut | DarkSideOfLucca
06.16.11 | I dunno, new Judas Priest isn't really my style I guess. And yeah, I'll admit, this isn't exactly vastly different from popular opinion, but I guess that just means I agree with all of those people who were disappointed by these records. Especially the top three. The top three are on a whole new level of sh** for me. | Satellite
06.16.11 | your spelling is a disappointment | someguest
06.16.11 | the only thing stinkier than this list is your sister's anus
she thinks my dick is tp | Tyrael
06.16.11 | 5 is so underrated... It's way better than Metallica's 'sell-out' albums Load and ReLoad | Psychopathologist
06.16.11 | metallica sold out with their s/t js | someguest
06.16.11 | haven't heard that before
j/s | DominionMM1
06.16.11 | It's way better than Metallica's 'sell-out' albums Load and ReLoad
Yeah, they should've just kept making the same album over and over. | Pharoh
06.16.11 | how about that album "in dreams" by atb.
the majority of the people i knew was pretty much disappointed... | Skweetis
06.18.11 | Diabolus in Musica doesn't sound like Nu Metal, it just sounds different from every other Slayer record, it's actually quite good. | thumbcrusher
06.18.11 | metallica hadn't been making the same album though, they changed a lot with and justice for all. rtl and mop are similar but the songs sound like they come from their respective album | DominionMM1
06.18.11 | I'm not saying that they had been repeating themselves. My point is that after the black album, where else could they go? To me, 'Load' was the next logical step after 'Metallica'. |
