| 10 Albums That Can Change Your Life

Definitely Maybe
I first heard this when I was 16 years old and it was one of the first album that branched me out of my Contemporary Christian music upbringing. I had already heard Whats The Story (Morning Glory) and I liked it, but compare it to Definitely, Maybe and there's no comparison. There is unapologetic, snarky attitude to this album that I though was so bad-ass back then. I still listen to it now and can be transported to back then and I love taking trips down nostalgia lane. | | 9 |  | Foo Fighters
Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
I'd been a fan of Foo Fighters a long time, and I'd come to expect great releases from them. So when Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace came out I was excited because I knew it was going to be good. What I experienced was a whole different animal entirely. The acoustic guitar work on this album is completely beautiful! I found myself listening to some of these songs over and over again just because it was like feeling silk against my ear drums. | | 8 |  | Death Cab For Cutie
Narrow Stairs
When I first hear Transatlanticism, I really didn't much care for it so I kinda didn't pay attention to Death Cab releases for the next four years or so. Finally my musical palate matured enough for me to give them another shot. I walked in to Starbucks one day and the front cover of this album was staring back at me. I bought it and instantly loved it. I was immersed in the intensely written lyrics that were oh-so-good! This album hosts some of the best writing I've ever seen, and also hosts my favorite song of all time; Grapevine Fires. | | 7 |  | Circa Survive
Blue Sky Noise
This is the type of album that comes around once in a decade. A new layer of depth was created during the recording of this masterpiece. When it comes to writing, it seldom gets better than this. The Great Misdirect
It was a tough decision to pick between this one and "Colors" but, ultimately, I will never get over how spectacular "Swim to the Moon" is on this album. This is a technical masterpiece of an album that is rivaled only by its predecessor. The biggest difference is the awe-inspiring 17-minute-long "Swim To The Moon". I can put that song on repeat and 2 hours later I still will be discovering new things about it! | | 5 |  | Radiohead
In Rainbows
What "Best Of" list is complete without the addition of Radiohead? This album did things with music that I didn't even know could be done. I've always been more of an "abstract" thinker/artist and In/Rainbows fits right in to that spectrum of thought. It has such great depth, thought, and creativity to it. | | 4 |  | Alesana
The Emptiness
This is the one I'll get the most trolling for. When I first heard The Emptiness, I had no idea it was a concept album and I sort-of wrote it off as being another halfway decent post-hardcore album. When I heard it was supposed to be a story that unfolds as the album plays, I began to read the lyrics. Few albums are as spectacularly intricate as this one. The words are so incredible and the story is so deliciously violent that, at the very worst, one would be very entertained. At it's best, its something else entirely; a fantastic musical adventure that most people would skip over without giving it a second thought. | | 3 |  | Muse
Absolution
When it comes to musical perfection, few bands/artists can pull it off. Even fewer can create an album that is creative, technically brilliant, and greatly relevant. Define The Great Line
I bought this album with two other ones, I got so tied up with the other ones that I didn't listen to this one for almost two years. It makes me cringe to think that I almost missed Metalcore perfection. Not only is this an immense and creative album, but nearly EVERY single one of the songs spoke to me in such a personal way. The last lines of the album were spoken at my grandmother's funeral, "At the end of the road, you'll find what you've been longing for!" | | 1 |  | U2
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
I'd only heard the name U2 when this album was released but I'd never heard anything by them. One day I was in Wal-Mart and this album sort-of spoke to me. I bought it without a scrap of information on it and began to listen. What followed can only be described as a spiritual experience. For the next hour I was oblivious to the world as U2 caressed my mind with idealistic pursuits! | |

And Muse does not have a better album than Absolution. Origins of Symmetry is the ONLY album that comes anywhere near Absolution but its still a few miles behind... Absolution is one of the best alternative rock albums ever made! | AnalAnnihilator

From now on when making lists with a lot of text/time write that stuff up in word or notepad and then copy and paste it. I had the same thing happen with my Underoath list, and needless to say I was pissed at 2 hours of work going right out the window. |
