05.11.11 | Good list, though i'd put John Carpenter, Dario Argento, and George A. Romero on here. Probably because of my love for the Horror genre. |
geng
05.11.11 | Great list both music and directors wise. Kubrick's probably my favourite. I was so worried this was going to be a moronic list with Michael Bay on it... |

05.11.11 | Props for having Kurosawa on here. Makes Orson Welles look shoddy by comparison |
vmcoia91
05.11.11 | Orson Welles had "The Magnificent Ambersons", "The Lady from Shanghai", "Touch of Evil", "The Trial", and "F for Fake" among many others. He also starred in The Third Man which is another amazing film. |
Sanders
05.11.11 | Park Chan-wook and the Coen brothers. |
Winesburgohio
05.11.11 | I've only seen 'Citizen Kane' 'Touch of Evil' and 'F for fake' and all of them seem to last a lot longer than their duration times suggest idk JUST MY OPINION |
Yotimi
05.11.11 | Excellent list. |
DiceMan
05.11.11 | 2 tries way too hard |
Kubrick
05.11.11 | Cool list.... Citizen Kane is sooo good. I personally love Darren Aronofsky and Quentin Tarantino as
well. Coen brothers are great too. |

05.11.11 | You'd probably really like Bela Tarr (Werckmeister Harmonies, Satantango) |
iSkane
05.11.11 | Good list of directors (and music). You need Frank Darabont on here though. |

Kubrick
05.11.11 | "5 should be 1"

05.11.11 | Polanski only has like 3 great films, and a bunch of crappy films, I don't understand why people think he's so great. |

Kubrick

vmcoia91
05.12.11 | I like Tarantino, but I probably wouldn't even put him in my top 30 directors. |
foreverendeared
05.12.11 | Someone help me understand Polanski! Seriously, don't get it. |
Kubrick
05.12.11 | Yeah honestly I've felt a bit underwhelmed by the Polanski movies I've seen. They just don't really hit me too hard. |
vmcoia91
05.12.11 | I don't know man. He's on here because, for me, I love Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby, Repulsion, The Pianist, Knife in the Water, The Tenant. There's some other decent one's I'm forgetting too. |
foreverendeared
05.12.11 | The Pianist is an amazing flick, I get that, and Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby is really good while Ghost Writer is very enjoyable, but he just doesn't have enough quality films to be considered on a list of elite directors in my opinion. |
Trebor.
05.12.11 | Quality over quantity.
|
Kubrick
05.12.11 | Omg you just reminded me, I have had Repulsion at my house for the past 2.5 months from Netflix and I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. My last exam is tomorrow morning so I can finally watch it. Is it good? |
vmcoia91
05.12.11 | Yes! it's awesome. For me it's Polanski's second best film behind Chinatown. The atmosphere is also really good in the film. It's creepy as hell too. |
Kubrick
05.12.11 | Lol it's obscene how long I've had that movie without watching it. I was wrong actually.. just checked and I've had it since January 5th haha. Yeah I thought it looked like it would be more up my alley from him. Love creepy atmospheric stuff. |
foreverendeared
05.12.11 | "Quality over quantity."
He doesn't have enough of both is my point.
If we're just going by quality, the guy who directed The Lives of Others and the guy who did City of God should be number one and two and Steven Spielberg should just be shot. |
vmcoia91
05.12.11 | When you watch finally watch Repulsion, Kubrick, I would love to know what you think about it. |
vmcoia91
05.12.11 | Ugh. forgot to put Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin on the list. |
