External Drive Sucks
Title says it all.. Lost around 200 GB of music today because it has fucked up my library. I'm pissed. At least, I got a new one, with 4X Capacity(1TB). List is 2011 stuff I liked not in a particular order |
| 1 | | Wormrot Dirge
18 Minutes of intense "in your face" grind. Was hard to take in one listen the fist time. My favorite grind album of this year. |
| 2 | | GridLink Orphan
Excellent grind record but again really relentless and too short. |
| 3 | | Noisear Subvert the Dominant Paradigm
Last grind album I liked this year. Other grind from this year was sucky not to say pretty disappointing. Examples of that would be Rotten Sound's Cursed which was pretty underwhelming from vocals to riffs to guitar or Anaal Nathrak who just sucked. |
| 4 | | Ulcerate The Destroyers of All
Pretty much my metal AOTY and will be hard to dethrone. Crushed my bones the first time I listened to it and still crushing them. |
| 5 | | Beyond Creation The Aura
Excellent technical DM in the Vain of Augury. Doesn't know why except the fact this band have their bassist. Good to hear some fretless bass on a DM album. |
| 6 | | Anomalous Ohmnivalent
Diverse DM album there. Intense drumming done by a drummer who is always dissed for just playing fast(Marco Pitruzella) who shows that he can be pretty polyvalent, many arpeggios and sweeps at the guitars but none at the level of faggotry Brain Drill uses them, some groovy riffs, some technical riffs, some "Messhugah riffing". Vocally speaking, the album is kinda atrocious, really the weak point of this album, the guy highs are bad, the lows are not even lows and he doesn't show real diversity. |
| 7 | | Mitochondrion Parasignosis
What a bunch of fools. Their music is twisted, terrifying, very dark. Reminded me of Portal mainly. |
| 8 | | Glassjaw Coloring Book
Glassjaw after a "hiatus" showed us they still haven't lost their flame. They're reinventing their sound and it pretty much worked here. I don't see why the vocals are flamed here. |
| 9 | | Dance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle Mountain II
Pretty much as good a DBM 1. This band never really dissapointed me. Even if Craig is a douchebag, he is still the best singer that sang for them. |
| 10 | | Love American Love American
Pretty much the best thing done by a Sputnik member. A must listen to.(Adam haven't paid me for saying this!) |
| 11 | | Between the Buried and Me The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues
One of my favorite band who never dissapoint me. I'm asking myself what part 2 would be. |
| 12 | | Protest the Hero Scurrilous
Fuck the haters. Even if they're becoming self absorbed in the world they created, they still kick ass even if it's their weakest. |
| 13 | | Born Of Osiris The Discovery
Biggest surprise of this year. It's why it got a 4. Normally would be a 3.5 or a 3 but I find this kinda refreshing for a "deathcore" album. They haven't overused breakdowns here. |
| 14 | | Beardfish Mammoth
Retro prog rock done right. |
| 15 | | Blut Aus Nord 777 - Sect(s)
Best BM of this year. May be too unorthodox for some people here. |
| 16 | | Deafheaven Roads To Judah
Atmospheric my ass. But it's still great. |
| 17 | | Mountain Goats All Eternals Deck
AOTY!!!AOTY!!!AOTY!!!AOTY!!!. I don't know a that has been that touching since a long time. Folk done right. |
| 18 | | Big K.R.I.T ReturnOf4eva
Who said "online" hip-hop sucked. The guy's flow is pretty much amazing, his beats are creative and his feature are well chosen. |
| 19 | | CunninLynguists Oneirology
Know and this bunch of guys are pretty much one of the best hip-hop "crew" found in this world. Production is amazing, feature are great and lyrics even if weird sometime brought my emotional side. |
| 20 | | The Weeknd House Of Balloons
Best R&B done since a long time. Kinda cheesy and weak lyrically, but who cares. It's R&B. |
