Metal With Mettle

Just thought I'd do my part to help Sputnik grow back its testicles.
1 Thrash
gon have riffs, gon be fast, gon thrash
2Aspid
Extravasation

Russian thrash to wet your gash. KILL and I have been whoring this one for a minute now and with good reason. Plenty of awesome riffs to bang your head to.
3Blind Guardian
Battalions of Fear

Criminally overlooked, BG's debut thrashes and thrashes hard. One of their very best and one of my personal favorite thrash albums.
4Mekong Delta
Kaleidoscope

Proggy thrash from Germany. Has a cover of Genesis? Dance on a Volcano that I think is better than the original.
5Onslaught
The Force

Pretty melodic with some power metal-esque vocals. Owns.
6Sabbat (UK)
Dreamweaver (Reflections of Our Yesterday)

One of the most consistent acts in thrash, Sabbat hail from UK, and this album may very well be their magnum opus. Should get the blood pumping to your chode.
7Hypnosia
Extreme Hatred

A more modern thrash album that doesn't suck dick. Vocals have a bit of a black metal feel a la Kreator.
8Toxik
Think This

One of the absolute best. Don't hear this mentioned much except among true thrashers. Lots of cool intros. Just get it; it's a classic.
9Holocausto
Campo de Exterminio

Brazilian thrash with tinges of black metal. Not a clone of Sarcofago or Mystifier either.
10Devastation
Idolatry

Delivers the suffering. Cool intros on here too.
11Epidemic
Decameron

Fast as shit. These dudes give Sadus a run for their money.
12 Death Metal
br00tal
13Morbid
December Moon

Old-school Swedish death metal with Dead on vocals. One of the pioneers of the scene along with Nihilist (later Entombed) and Sorcery.
14Molested
Blod Draum

One of my favorites from the very same guitarist that would later bring us Borknagar. Very unique. Can't think of any other albums of the period that would have a Nokturnal Mortum-esque folk part erupt into brutal death metal.
15Vomiturition
A Leftover

A badass gem out of Finland. Pretty melodic but not quite melodeath.
16Funebre
Children of the Scorn

Another great cut from Finland, this one more on the old-school side.
17Messiah
Choir of Horrors

Good shit from Switzerland. This and Rotten Perish are both pretty rad.
18Rottrevore
Iniquitous

Good mixtures of tempos with some great playing.
19Iniquity
Serenadium

Kinda heavy. Some nice solos.
20Morta Skuld
Dying Remains

Milwaukee's finest. Really like the vocals.
21Monstrosity
Imperial Doom

The best album Corpsegrinder has ever been a part of.
22Hypocrite
Into the Halls of the Blind

Melodeath but not the gay kind.
23 Black Metal
kvlt
24Mortifera
Vastiia Tenebrd Mortifera

Something Neige did that isn't fruity.
25Peste Noire
Folkfuck Folie

This album isn't trying to be La Sanie, so don't approach it that way. It's just another excellent release in Peste Noire's consistent-as-hell discography. Give it the proper chance it deserves.
26Prevalent Resistance
Eternal Return

Fucking slays. Why aren't these dudes popular?
27Odelegger
The End of Tides

Raw just like your mom's snizz from last night.
28Nekrasov
The Form of Thought from Beast

Ambient black metal from Australia.
29Wrath of the Weak
Wrath of the Weak

USBM that brings the grim and frostbitten atmospheres.
30Nuit Noire
Black Form

Fairly melodic punk-influenced black metal.
31Belenos
Spicilege

Folky pagan black metal that is absolutely awesome. If you don't have this, I don't know where you've been, but get it now.
32Leech [US]
Ten Black Hymns

Cascadian band that is constantly evolving. This, their debut, has elements of hardcore, crust, and folk. Stop fapping to Kvelertak and get this instead.
33Akitsa
Sang Nordique

Rarely do I expect Canada to do something right, but this band is most excellent.
34 Doom
low and slow
35The Austrasian Goat
The Austrasian Goat

Bleak blackened funeral doom.
36Grief
Dismal

Dismal indeed.
37Stabat Mater
Stabat Mater

One of the best. Crushing and hopeless.
38Mournful Congregation
The Monad of Creation

Another powerful and beautiful doom classic.
39Skepticism
Farmakon

The first and probably the best release from these Finnish doom titans.
40Consummatum Est
Funeral Procession

Another debut and another stunningly beautiful album. Awesome vocals.
41Esoteric
Metamorphogenesis

Eerie and punishing doom from the UK.
42Solitude Aeturnus
Into the Depths of Sorrow

A true doom classic. The debut from a very influential and consistent band that has that old-school feel with some excellent vocals.
43Candlemass
Nightfall

EDM may get all the attention, but this is truly Candlemass' magnum opus. Absolutely beautiful.
44Inborn Suffering
Wordless Hope

A very accessible but highly enjoyable album from some Frenchies.
45 Post-Metal
