Top 50 Albums Ever
simply put, my favorite albums (as of March 29th 2007) |
1 | | Thrice Vheissu
Never has any band ever been able to combine raw power, pure emotion, and a huge atmopshere into one album until Vheissu was released. Very few, if any blemishes at all on this album make it my number one ever. |
2 | | Megadeth Rust In Peace
My favorite album for a long time, and it still is one them. Probably the definitive thrash/speed metal album, it features only one weak track. Holy Wars is one of the greatest songs ever, and Marty Friedman's lead guitar really pushes this album over the edge. |
3 | | Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
I can't really say much about this album that hasn't already been said. A must have for any fan of rock music. |
4 | | Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction
So Guns N Roses gets a lot of hate but they still released one of the greatest (if not the greatest) debut album of all time. The energy on this cd is unmatchable by any band, thanks to Izzy and Steven Adler's rhythm section and Axl's loud, abrasive vocals. |
5 | | Joe Satriani Surfing With The Alien
Easily the greatest instrumental album ever recorded. Also, the best driving music ever. I am amazed at how Satch creates such catchy melodies all the time, and then he still comes at us with an emotional ballad to close the album on a high point. |
6 | | Pink Floyd Animals
One of the more underrated Pink Floyd albums, but yet it contains three of the band's best songs ever. And when the album only has three true songs (plus and intro and outro track which are both good as well), it is obviously going to be one of the best. |
7 | | Dream Theater Images And Words
So many might place Scenes From A Memory here instead of this album, but I think Images and Words is their best. The touch of Kevin Moore really puts this one above all others, as we can see in Learning To Live and Wait For Sleep. |
8 | | The Misfits Earth A.D. / Die Die My Darling
20 minutes of pure, uncut energy. |
9 | | Green Day Dookie
Such a classic album and was easily my favorite when I was growing up. Still is a great album and reminds me of just how great this band used to be. The essential punk/pop-punk album. |
10 | | Metallica Master Of Puppets
Whether or not you hate Metallica, most understand that this is a great album. Orion anyone? |
11 | | Joe Satriani The Extremist
Another one of the greatest albums, this one has a more mature rock feel to it but yet experiments nonetheless. Joe really shows off a lot of his rhythm work on this album and it never fails to shine. |
12 | | Iron Maiden The Number Of The Beast
Another essential metal album, and I think most would agree. Featuring the essential Hallowed Be Thy Name, it is a must have. |
13 | | The Offspring Smash
If Dookie is not the essential punk/pop-punk album, then this is. The title track is definitely the best pop punk song of the 1990's. And I'm sure we all know Come Out And Play and Bad Habit, don't we? |
14 | | Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti
If Disc 1 was released as just one album alone, it would have #1 on this list. |
15 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
Uh-oh! Heres something some will disagree with. But hey, I love it, it seems to be a perfect blend of the styles shown in BloodSugarSexMagik and By The Way. |
16 | | Foo Fighters Foo Fighters
Maybe the most underrated album of the 90s? |
17 | | Greg Howe Introspection
Modern jazz fusion at its best. |
18 | | The Cure Disintegration
I don't think I need to explain why this is on here. |
19 | | Oasis Whats The Story Morning Glory
A simply amazing album with all sorts of good songs. Morning Glory and Don't Look Back In Anger are two of my absolute favorites. |
20 | | John Mayer Continuum |
21 | | The Misfits Static Age |
22 | | Yes Relayer |
23 | | Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime |
24 | | Boston Boston |
25 | | Iron Maiden Somewhere In Time |
26 | | Dream Theater Octavarium |
27 | | The Misfits American Psycho |
28 | | Megadeth Countdown To Extinction |
29 | | Boards Of Canada Hi Scores E.P. |
30 | | In Flames Come Clarity |
31 | | Metallica Ride The Lightning |
32 | | Pearl Jam Ten |
33 | | Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits 1974-1978 |
34 | | Thrice The Illusion of Safety |
35 | | The Misfits Famous Monsters |
36 | | The Who Who's Next |
37 | | Lynyrd Skynyrd Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd |
38 | | Iron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh Son |
39 | | Eric Johnson Ah Via Musicom |
40 | | In Flames Clayman |
41 | | Metallica ...And Justice For All |
42 | | King Crimson Red
Prog greatness. |
43 | | Megadeth Youthanasia |
44 | | Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion II |
45 | | U2 Boy |
46 | | Green Day Nimrod |
47 | | Grand Funk Railroad We're An American Band |
48 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers BloodSugarSexMagik |
49 | | AFI The Art Of Drowning |
50 | | Enya Paint The Sky With Stars |
