Top Rapper Guest Spots
it seems every hip-hop album ever made features at least one guest spot, here are my favs |
1 | Nas feat. AZ Life's a Bitch
Fitting that possibly the best guest spot was on possibly the best hip-hop album. Outshining Dre or Snoop is one thing but doing it to Nas at his peak is the reason this gets the top spot |
2 | Notorious B.I.G. feat. Bone Thugs Notorious Thugs
Like #8, Bone may be the guests but it's Biggie who switches his style to match his guest's rapid-fire flow, blending in style-wise but still managing to stand out |
3 | Main Source feat. Nas, Joe Fatal and Akinyele Live at the Barbeque
Nas' 1st official track and none of these rappers are particularly good but nearly 20 yrs later this is still one of Nas' best verses |
4 | Snoop Dogg feat. Xzibit Bitch Please
A virtual unknown at the time, Xzibit exploded onto the mainstream with this verse. Once again, the main artist doesn't match his guest's energy |
5 | Dr. Dre feat. Eminem Forgot About Dre
Outshining Dre is not that hard to do but Dre actually has a good verse here so it makes Em's show-stealing performance all the more impressive |
6 | Cormega feat. Ghostface Tony Montana
Cormega is a pretty good rapper but he has a very laid back flow, he fails to match Ghost's intensity on this track and gets totally ANNHILATED by GFK |
7 | Ghostface Killah feat. Reakwon, U-God, Masta Killa and Cappadonna Winter Warz
I tried to exclude Wu solo albums but Cappa wasn't really a Wu member and it's easily his best verse ever (which isn't saying much, I know) he closes this track in spectacular fashion |
8 | 50 Cent feat UGK As the World Turns
Bun B may be the guest but it's 50 who switches his flow to more of a southern drawl that makes him sound like a member of UGK, he also does a great hook |
9 | A Tribe Called Quest feat. Leaders of the New School Scenario
"Rawr rawr like a dungeon dragon" might be the only thing Busta's done that I really enjoyed, his high energy rap overshadows everyone else on the track |
10 | Mobb Deep Feat. Lil Kim Quiet Storm (rmx)
The original version is great but Lil Kim's guest spot on the remix where she supplies the hook as well as using her verse to viciously diss her nemesis, Kim is the only female rapper worthy of making this list |
