02.10.11 | Also good to see ALttP so high up. Would probably be 5 or 6 on mine. |

02.10.11 | Tomb Raider is amazing and I challenge you to tell me why it not a Masterpiece. I will defeat you.
@Rabbit - I love Silent Shout so much that I just can't help wishing it was more like that album (I know, bad reason. I can't help it though). I appreciate the creativity and there are definitely moments of brilliance, but as a whole I didn't get into it as much as others this year. Still great album though.
Btw, on my "Need to Beat" game list:
Mass Effect 1&2
Deus Ex
Metal Gear Solid 4
Thief

02.10.11 | Here's a pretty good write-up: http://gamescanbeart.com/2010/02/24/tomb-raider/
Especially the paragraph about the controls |

02.10.11 | GoW was so disappointing. |

02.10.11 | Mass Effect 2 was the only game I have ever played where I have actually truly cared about the characters/ world I was in. Which is something I normally only do when I read. |
Yotimi
02.10.11 | Yeah, can't wait to play those, I've heard only great things. As soon as I beat MGS4. |

02.10.11 | also no morrowind? |

02.10.11 | Awesome list (games, didn't even look at the albums). Gotta say, I was disappointed in Tomb Raider being 1. Fucking love all the SNES going on here. My top 5 games would be (roughly):
Monster Rancher 2 (all time favorite)
Final Fantasy VI
Ninja Gaiden Black
Majora's Mask
Mario RPG |

02.10.11 | I figured people wouldn't really "get" Tomb Raider being number 1. I'm older than most here (26) and that game came out in 1996, and along with Mario 64 (which came out in '96 too) revolutionized 3D platformers. The hugeness of the game was overwhelming, the gameplay was as wide open as any game for its time. The atmosphere is PERFECT. The music isn't intrusive. It's challenging, takes a while to complete, and the controls are perfect for the type of game. You can't just run and jump around aimlessly like most games today (which would ruin the experience), you have to think about each jump, time it perfectly, because at any time it can result in death. People mistake it for an action game sometimes. |

02.10.11 | I only have fleeting memories of playing it when I was younger. Never actually beaten it. Going to half.com right now to see how much I can get it for. |
acorncheese
02.10.11 | You should check out Monster Rancher 2 if you ever get the chance. It's a bit pricey these days, but well worth it. Doubt any game will ever come close to it for me. Only game in which repetition satisfies. |

02.10.11 | no mass effect??? |

02.10.11 | I'm sure I will. My "to get" and "to play" list is so long right now though. |

02.10.11 | Satellite, look at the 9th post. |

02.10.11 | I can't wait to play those games. I think I'll bump them to the top of the list for sure |

02.10.11 | Btw, 78 is coming out with an album next week that's getting no hype here, but it should be pretty awesome |
acorncheese
02.10.11 | Finally remembered the name of this game I used to play a lot as a kid on the Genesis. Alien Soldier. Fuck that game was awesome. Just looked it up and it's priced for blue blood. :/ |
Yotimi
02.10.11 | hmm, never heard of that one |
acorncheese
02.10.11 | It was almost like an arcade Super Metroid. Having Sega Channel was the absolute best as a kid, but now that I'm older I'm not left with many games. |
Yotimi
02.10.11 | I'm all about anything Metroid/Castlevania-like |

02.10.11 | Also looking through your list I realized that there used to be more than two companies (bethesda and bioware) making good games. |
Masochist
02.10.11 | I'm currently playing #7. On the fourth colossus (the skeleton horse-ish one). I was really hoping I wouldn't be one of those stupid people who thought the game was overrated or something, and thank goodness I'm finding out that I'm not. Game is boss.
After boss. After boss.
But really, boss. |

02.10.11 | 7 is definitely my favorite of all time. |

02.11.11 | That Darkstar release just confuses me. I kinda agree with you on 1, I was 10 when it came out |

02.11.11 | Going to buy Secret of Mana tomorrow I think. Will be well worth the $30. One of my favorites. |

climactic
02.11.11 | (game) |
Yotimi
02.11.11 | Great Great game climactic (23rd all time is still high) but I've always preferred the 2D top down ones for some reason.
@Deviant - It's probably because I heard that Darkstar album before his first, so I had no expectations. |
omnipanzer
02.11.11 | Tomb raider 1 and 2 were great. They are what the whole franchise was built on. |
omnipanzer
02.11.11 | FFVII would be one for me and I can't see 6 being on my list at all.
Also a few that would be on my list that isn't on yours would have to be.
gran turismo 1&2
Power Stone (Dreamcast)
Tekken 1&2
AvP (Jaguar)
Tobal 2
Not all great but all fun and were great at the time for me. |
qwe3
02.11.11 | final fantasy is gaaaaaaay but some great picks dude |

02.11.11 | Is this gay and how about this? Why don't you say it in the microphone. I got a backup mike right here. Check one two, testing, testing. Yup, they both workin' and guess what? They don't like no feedback, what's up? |
acorncheese
02.11.11 | I love FFVII, but it's nowhere near my favorite. My top three would have to be: VI, IX and X (yes, flame me). |
Yotimi
02.11.11 | Played FFVII when it came out so there's a lot of nostalgia there. I never finished IX but liked what I played, and X I wasn't a huge fan of (even though quidditch is pretty cool....) |
acorncheese
02.11.11 | lol blitzball? |
Deviant.
02.11.11 | "It's probably because I heard that Darkstar album before his first, so I had no expectations."
Yeah, a lot of people I know were similar. It isn't a bad album (imo of course) but my first thought was just "what the fuck have you guys gone and done?" |
Yotimi
02.11.11 | blitzball, quidditch. Same thing. |

02.12.11 | windwaker is perhaps my favorite game of all time,
