01.25.11 | if you liked pandorum, check out the much better movie it ripped off: Event Horizon
Can't vouch for how good these all are (none of them are close to Sunshine, Event Horizon, or the first two Alien films) but i've seen a fuckload of them... here are some bad ones (all major studio flicks):
-supernova (the 2000 one)
-mission to mars
-red planet (better than mission to mars)
-virus (altho it technically doesn't take place in space)
-sphere, dreamcatcher (same thing as virus)
-doom
-john carpenter's ghosts of mars (better than doom)
-imposter
some good/ok ones:
-starship troopers
-(obviously) 2001
-the thing, the arrival (takes place on earth but good shit)
- species (sequels are basically softcore porn)
- riddick movies (esp. Pitch Black)
obviously leaving some out but these are in the same vein as Pandorum (which btw i HATED)
also Dead Space 2 should be @ my apt. when i get back from school |

01.25.11 | @academy lmao didnt know you made that list actually. it wasn't so much that i loved pandorum itself but more so of
the setting and idea of the film. i'm not big on most horror films but something about being trapped in space
(especially in a huge ship) with psychopaths or supernatural creatures is truly thrilling to watch. i'll definitely check out
some of the stuff you mentioned.
thanks for the recs guys! |

01.25.11 | yes space is scary... if you're looking for claustrophobic/fixed setting horror, skip to:
-Event Horizon
-Supernova
-Virus (takes place on the ocean, but same basic principle)

01.25.11 | Deep Blue Sea + Hollow Man (which is basically Deep Blue Sea with an invisible Kevin Bacon instead of badass sharks) are similar but have no outer space elements |

01.25.11 | FUBAR |

01.25.11 | Event Horizon...this is the closest you get to Pandorum and its better. Actually Pandorum was produced by the dude who made Event Horizon so its directly inspired by it. |
iarescientists
01.25.11 | i remember watching event horizon at my friends house when i was 10 and thought it was cool but kind of lame for ripping off sphere |
omgraptors
01.25.11 | I agree that they practically follow the same pattern but both are equally good. Tho event horizon is unspeakably more scary. |
