| 2010: Live!
I usually attend between 20-30 shows a year, but due to lack of financial stability, a big move, and a serious illness, I had to limit my concert intake to 13 this year(Yes, I still have every ticket stub). So here's the top 10, and reasons as to why. | 1 | Misfits
After seeing the Misfits at least 5 times and despite no Michale Graves nor Danzig, the Misfits still put on one helluva show. Opening up with American Psycho and then closing it out with Last Caress made this a top 5 show of all time for me. Jerry struggles on vocals, but the energy and musicianship more than make up for it. | 2 | Polar Bear Club
Sandwiched inbetween August Burns Red and This is Hell, Polar Bear Club were way outside of their element. However, despite the lack of energy from the mostly trend-hopping fans that were there, the band put on a flawless shows, giving it their all and performing everything perfectly. By the end of the show, PBC got the crowd finally moving, and it turned into a scentastic-orgy of long hair and too much eyeliner. | 3 | Sick of It All
Lou and the boys still have it. Despite falling off a bit in recent years, the boys from NYC still know how to put on a great show, inspiring what was a dead crowd into forming a frenzied wave all the way to the stage. | 4 | Skinny Puppy
One of the most unusual acts that I've ever seen, yet I was completely enthralled with the stage show. The light effects along with the vibrant yet violent images on the screen behind them equaled one of the most disturbing yet entertaining shows I saw all year. | 5 | Naughty by Nature
After being hesitant to attend a hip-hop show after my last dreadful experience, I was convinced that this would be a good act to see. Fortunately, the one who convinced me(the wifey) was correct, as a heavy wave of nostalgia crashed on top of me as "Uptown Anthem" blared over the sound system. | 6 | Badfish
After my girl asking me twice a year for the past 4 years to see Badfish(Sublime-tribute band), I finally caved in. Despite the over-energetic crowd and the unnecessary(but quite hilarious)"mosh pit," the band put on an excellent show, captivating me with spot on covers of "Caress Me Down" and "Saw Red" that reminded me of better times. | 7 | Drropkick Murphys
I got what I expected: a massive celebration of everything Irish, from booze to, well, more booze. The crowd and the band were both energetic, but the show suffered from a terrible sound crew and many delays in set-up. | 8 | Gov't Mule
For my 26th birthday, I was given open-ended tickets to see whatever band I wanted, and this was my choice. While the music was great, there was barely anyone there, therefore creating a kind of "empty" atmosphere, and the band's energy suffered from it. | 9 | The Get Up Kids
I had to travel for this one, and despite my love for the band, it was definitely not money well spent. The sound system was horrible, and half of the people there were there for other bands, or were there for their significant other, and it created a pathetic atmosphere. Plus, who the fuck sells a 10 oz beer for fucking $9.00 a pop?!?! | 10 | Less Than Jake
While this was better than the other shows that aren't on this list, that's really not saying much. I went to this show for pure nostalgia, only to be disappointed in the track selection, as it was all newer material. Granted, the band itself was fantastic, but I can't stand much of their more recent stuff, and therefore, I was severely disappointed. | |
