eternium 12.21.10	Well, I haven't listened to that much post-punk but what I have listened to of it I didn't enjoy as much as I enjoy what post-hardcore and everything else I have. Four of my 5's are post-metal albums so obviously that's on top.

Lighter stuff- Talking heads- fear of music talking heads- remain in light Interpol- turn on your bright lights Devo- Q: are we not men A: we are devo gang of four- Entertainment! by lighter I am refering to the music being more upbeat. A fairly common theme is post punk is the juxtoposition of upbeat music (major chords lots of snare etc) with really depressing music darker- Joy Division- Closer Joy Divsion- Unknown Pleasures Wire- Pink Flag Wipers- Youth of America the cure- disintegration Nick cave and the bad seeds- let love in not post-punk but kinda The National- Boxer The National- Alligator The Smiths- the smiths the smiths- the queen is dead Dismemberment Plan- Emergency & I
couldwinarabbit 12.21.10	this is mainly based on being easy to get into and is not a list of the best stuff. You would probably want to start with the not but kinda section then the lighter stuff.

Like behind the talking heads and joy division they would be the prime examples. dismemberment plan is more based on it, thus in the not so post-punk area. the wipers are more probably more punk than post-punk but that album in particular has a lot of post-punk elements.
Athom 12.21.10	pink flag is a straight up punk album and as much as you hate to admit it, the cure and the smiths are new wave 80's brit-pop but just good examples of it. also the dismemberment plan share more in common with late 80s and early 90s noise rock alternative bands its just done in a much much more pop friendly sound while keeping the same structures.

Pink flag is like 100% quintessential post-punk but genre wars are for people who have poor taste in music and justify it by saying that the shitty band they like is part of a niche genre so w/e.

And then doing it for a whole band is even harder cause like fugazi went from straight up punk to post-hardcore. But @Zander regardless of whether or not it is post-punk those are all great albums.
