|Best Albums Of 2010|
Although ordinarily I put ten, I only found five albums I would consider rworth mentioning in a "best of the year" list. There were a few runner-rups: Pain of Salvation, "Road Salt One;" Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, r"The Social Network OST;" and The Dillinger Escape Plan, "Option rParalysis."

Someone Here is Missing
A highly infectious album, full of alternative rock riffing, electronic touches, and
prog-tastic instrumental sections all awash in the sound of modern prog; an
excellent outing for the band.

Sigh No More
Mumford and Sons make folk music that is both highly catchy and musically
intriguing; the band interplay is fantastic on this record.

Zimmer's best score in awhile, "Inception" mixes the composer's requisite epic
sounds with post-rock and electronic influences, crafting something quite bold,
intense, and moving.
I would ordinarily not think to mix free jazz and metal, but Swedish
experimentalists Shining did, and I'm quite happy for it. "Blackjazz" is highly
inventive metal; the things they do with a saxophone on tracks like "HEALTER
SKELTER" should be illegal.

Stoppin' on a Dime: Live & Rare 2000-2010
A fond farewell from the band, "Stoppin' on a Dime" compiles unreleased studio
tracks (that, in effect, make up their own album) and unreleased live recordings
in a 40 song box set that truly shows how great this band is. The Elms have
broken up now, but this album shows them to be a rock and roll band to be
