Guide To Metalcore

If you haven't heard one of these then you have problems. I also rrealize this list could be rlonger, but I feel these are the essentials.
8The Armed
These Are Lights

this is a new up and coming band out of detroit. they have a DIY mentality
and a converge like sound. All their music is free at www.thearmed.com and
they know exactly what they are doing.
This is a must have for everyone.
best song - hail troglodon
7the bled
pass the flask

due to the lack of love the bled is getting recently i bet most of you are
slightly angry about this being on here, but back in 2003 the bled was a
beast. a very angry beast that knew how to write effective breakdowns
and pummel you to death with them.
best song - red wedding
6coalesce
ox

Coalesce have extremely unique vocals and phat grooves. grooves that
make and want to hit everything. shame that they are taking a break
again, but they did gives us 2 of their greatest offerings last year.
best song - wild ox moan
5poison the well
the opposite of december

this is not, in my opinion, their best offering, however this is one of the very
first melodic metalcore albums. you can almost point the finger in their
direction for a majority of the terrible metalcore bands in existence. they
used cleans and melody to make a more accessable form of core.
best song - nerdy
4The Dillinger Escape Plan
Calculating Infinity

Pioneered a sub genre. mathcore was dubbed after this album's title and it
is a tasty piece of technical dissonance.
best song - 43% burnt
3cave in
until your heart stops

This is where the original bar was set before it was raised by botch and
converge. disgusting riffs and relentless vocals.
best song - Juggernaut
2Converge
Jane Doe

This is how you channel emotion into noise. I would like to argue that some
of their newer albums are better than this, but for the sake of this list I will
leave this as the best converge album because of the best song on the
album.
best song - fault and fracture.
1Botch
We Are The Romans

Best song - Transitions from persona to object
This album is the definition of how noise can be channeled into art. Nothing
is better when it comes to metalcore. This reigns supreme because Botch
never wrote songs about how their women screwed them over or how they
were tougher than everyone. This is how all music should be.
