I find the bled a little more post-hardcore-ish then metalcore, still a very good album. |

10.09.10 | ''The best song of Jane Doe has always been the title track IMO. Like the list though.''
Don't agree with you on Jane Doe, and I also feel that fault and fracture isn't the best song. It should be Concubine (best opener ever) + fault and fracture because concubine pretty much flows into fault and fracture. I feel they sould be seen as one song. And that would be the best of Jane Doe, IMO. |

10.09.10 | great list man. 2 isn't my favorite converge either. |

IDK about DMIR unless you're considering them the only essential deathcore band to ever exist haha.
Needs more 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Skycamefalling, Norma Jean, Integrity, Underoath, Acacia Strain (even if you don't like them, you can't deny how fucking influential they are), a more important Bled Album, no The Armed, etc. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Acacia Strain are influential? Since when?
|
eternium
10.21.10 | The Acacia Strain has been very influential... on bands just as shitty as they are. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | "Acacia Strain are influential? Since when?"
Are you kidding me? 3750 is one of the most emulated albums in the modern metalcore scene lol.
@Etermium: you listen to the worst pop metalcore dude. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Oh and Last Call For The Living is definitely a way more essential Coalesce album. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | "Are you kidding me? 3750 is one of the most emulated albums in the modern metalcore scene lol."
Okay, you have a point. They influenced a whole wave of shitty metalcore/deathcore. Thanks guys! |
Antipunk
10.21.10 | I'm not sure why the list would need Norma Jean if I have botch on here... |
eternium
10.21.10 | 0:12 is definitely the most essential Coalesce. You insulting my general liking of As I Lay Dying (partly nostalgic at this point) has nothing on your obsession with all of the shitty deathcore. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Because Norma Jean has their own sound and is an extremely important metalcore band?
Also, why no Drowningman and Sincebyman? |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Norma Jean has their own sound? Damn, did they influence Botch?!?! |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Like, yes, you can tell Norma Jean was hugely influenced by Botch, and some of their earlier songs were laughably similar to Botch songs (Huttons Great Heat Engine vs. Human Face Divine), but if you're seriously gonna pretend that songs like Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste and Face : Face sound like Botch, I'm gonna explode. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | You better go ahead and set your timer then. |

witchxrapist
10.21.10 | I'm just making suggestions, no need to get butthurt mister. :) |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Lol, why are you acting like they sound exactly like Botch? I said they were heavily influenced by them, that's all. It doesn't hurt that 99.9% of their songs from their first two releases could have easily found a home on any Botch record(of course no songs would, because Botch is actually GOOD). |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Also, ironically I made a "guide to metalcore" list that's 30 albums long but I can't find it.
I'll remake it just for yew. :3! |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | "It doesn't hurt that 99.9% of their songs from their first two releases could have easily found a home on any Botch record"
LOL, you've CLEARLY never listened to Bless The Martyr..., I agree that O' God! sounds a lot more like Botch, but even so it has a lot lot lot more post hardcore influence.
"(of course no songs would, because Botch is actually GOOD)."
Yeah because a band being popular and Christian automatically means they're bad!
Norma Jean's first two albums are immense |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Also, Norma Jean w/ Josh Scogin = way better vocals than Botch. |
ShoeSoup
10.21.10 | the true 'guide to metalcoar' is to stay far, far away from it |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | "Yeah because a band being popular and Christian automatically means they're bad!"
Good assumption, too bad I like Underoath, As I Lay Dying(to a certain degree), but hey, assumptions are good, right?!?!
"LOL, you've CLEARLY never listened to Bless The Martyr..., "
I've listened to it. Hell, I was all about that when I was an angry, un-informed 18-19 year old. Now that I've grown up a bit and listened to the progenitors of metalcore, I know that Norma Jean weren't all that original, and for that matter, not all that great. But hey, assumptions are great, huh? |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | "Good assumption, too bad I like Underoath, As I Lay Dying(to a certain degree), but hey, assumptions are good, right?!?!"
Well then, what exactly makes NJ's first two albums shitty? I agree the past three are bad.
"I've listened to it. Hell, I was all about that when I was an angry, un-informed 18-19 year old. Now that I've grown up a bit and listened to the progenitors of metalcore, I know that Norma Jean weren't all that original, and for that matter, not all that great. But hey, assumptions are great, huh?"
And you SERIOUSLY think the album sounds like Botch? are you deaf? It's definitely got classic 'mathcore' influences, but that album is VERY VERY distinct.
And tbh, that album is fucking HEAVY and classic. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Mappy, keep it up. This is better than any stand-up comedian I've ever seen. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Yeah, I'm pretty sure you got made fun of for liking Norma Jean at some point and took it to heart. This is Pit isn't it?
Also, you pretend old NJ sounds exactly like Botch and isn't good, but then admit to liking ALID ahahahahaha. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Nah, I never got made fun of liking Norma Jean. Plus, if I did, would I care? Probably not. See? This is where you and I are different, Mappy. If I like something and 99.9% of the rest of the world doesn't and wants to crack on me for it, I don't post multiple paragraphdefending said band. Why? Because I don't care. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | Like, your argument here is the equivalent of saying The Number 12 is a Fear Before rip-off because you can hear influence in their sound. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Lol, keep putting words in my mouth. It just means you're reaching. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | "This is where you and I are different, Mappy. If I like something and 99.9% of the rest of the world doesn't and wants to crack on me for it, I don't post multiple paragraphdefending said band. Why? Because I don't care."
1. Single sentences & links != paragraphs.
2. I'm still convinced your deaf if you think any of those NJ songs I linked sound like Botch.
|
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | "Lol, keep putting words in my mouth. It just means you're reaching."
I said your argument's "the equivalent of...", do you even know what, "putting words in someone elses mouth," means? |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | I just think the Norma Jean/Botch comparison is tired and was inaccurate any time before or after 2005. And regardless, band IS an essential. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Yeah, considering I never said "rip-off," nor "I hate this band because they're Christian and popular." Yeah, I think I understand what "putting words in your mouth" means. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | You didn't say rip-off, you said that any of those songs could land a spot on a Botch album. What does that imply?
Seriously, you're not good at trolling. You just look like an idiot whenever you try, example: when you tried trolling bringonthebreakdown. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | "Norma Jean has their own sound? Damn, did they influence Botch?!?!"
and this doesn't imply that Norma Jean is a Botch rip-off? Let it go. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Who said I was even trolling? Because I disagree with you I'm trolling? Lol, Mappy, talk about needing to let it go..... |
demigod!
10.21.10 | Good list. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | You're either attempting to troll me or you're deaf. There's no other way this can make sense. |
awhiteguy
10.21.10 | Or you're just ignorant and want to find any excuse to make yourself feel better for liking the majority of junk you listen to. |
witchxrapist
10.21.10 | I'm ignorant? ahahahahahahaha.
Norma Jeans doesn't sound like Botch outside of obvious influence. Norma Jean used to be good and is hugely popular. You don't like them, awesome, they're still and important metalcore band.
Also, readdressing The Acacia Strain: you said they aren't influential, and now you're calling me ignorant? Get your head out of your ass.
And on the assumption that this is Pit, go listen to As I Lay Dying and pretend that Prayer For Cleansing isn't good, ya wee boaby. |
