heyadam
04.08.10 | thanks a bunch dude! I've heard of maybe half of those bands |
Emim
04.08.10 | Check out the essential ones first, though be warned that they are not as accessible as the others. |
heyadam
04.08.10 | I will do man, again thanks. Have you heard Living Sacrifice's new album? and I just checked out Woe of Tyrants from a previous rec and they are sick, you should check them out too |
Emim
04.08.10 | If you liked The Infinite Order, check out the one before that "Conceived in Fire" much better imo.
I'll have to check out Woe of Tyrants though. |
heyadam
04.08.10 | Ok ill check that one out too. I liked their old stuff and then never got around to listening to the one that came out in '06 (which I assume "Conceived In Fire")
but yeah, they are Prog. Death Metal, definitely a good band. They aren't all Christian, but their lyricist is, so they have a very uplifting theme. |
Emim
04.08.10 | Cool, sounds like something I'll dig.
This'll help you out a LOT:

Yeahtoast
04.08.10 | @SeaAnemone: How on earth is it close minded if he can relate to this stuff? He's already stated he listens to other music? Not just this. If he can relate to this stuff then great, I'm pretty sure that's the idea, these bands wrote these lyrics SO their fans can relate as well as expressing their own views |
SeaAnemone
04.08.10 | I know. I was wrong... kinda irked me that he's asking for Christian music just because that whole thing really bothers me (I mean REALLY?! how does that make sense?!) but whatever... it's not close minded, I know. |
Yeahtoast
04.08.10 | Everyone needs to listen to some music they can relate to even if they listen to other music as well, this is Adam's forte :) clearly not yours though Sea :P and don't listen to behemoth Adam xP do you like Creed? Hate them personally and I don't REALLY get the connection with their music and the whole Christian thing but you could check them out, wouldn't hurt :) |
Emim
04.08.10 | No music is Christian. However, Christian bands have Christian-themed lyrics. No different than depressing xXCUTMYWRISTSXx bands, just specific lyrical content. |
heyadam
04.08.10 | haha I think everyone has listened to Creed at one point. But yeah I don't mean to set anyone off with lists like these, I just really wanted some Christian metal recs haha. I love metal in general too, not just Christian metal. But yeah whoever rec'd me Woe of Tyrants is awesome( I can't remember who it was and I'm too lazy to scroll right now to find it). They aren't Christian but their singer is so he tends to right more positive lyrics |
heyadam
04.08.10 | @ emim , I think that the members can be genuinely Christian, and write Christian lyrics that spawned from their beliefs and lifestyle choices.....and THAT would be considered Christian music. But there are a lot of bands that use the Christian label as a gimmick, and thats just ridiculous |
BigTuna
04.08.10 | How does what make sense Eric? |
Jips
04.08.10 | Well tbh... It Seems like just about every other metalcore/post hardcore band is 'christian'...so it should not be hard to find them...
No one has metioned gwen Stacy or blessthefall yet...or I don't think also confide, in fear and faith, showbread, project 86... Fuck it there are tons out there |
Masochist
04.08.10 | Not quite "metal"...but Akissforjersey. |
SeaAnemone
04.08.10 | BigTuna: the repeated adoption of things that Christians originally criticize like rock but slap a Jesus sticker on it and its ok, despite conflicting values (making large profits, pride, extravagance, etc.s upon end). Basically, these corporate "Christian" empires that make a boatload of cash from the blind. i.e. Christian schools (and I don’t mean Catholic). Christian bookstores. Christian gift shops. Christian advertising agencies and marketing firms. Christian travel agencies. Christian motorcycle gangs (I mean, clubs). Christian rock-climbing, hiking, and vacation cruises. Christian singles groups. Christian therapists. Christian yoga. Christian meditation. Christian Zen.
yea, not a big deal really, just irks me a little. i'm fine discussing this but please no one get mad, I mean c'mon really. |
TheNewWhack
04.08.10 | Still Remains - Of Love and Lunacy |
heyadam
04.08.10 | thanks i'll check them out too. Basically anything heavy and with a Christian theme at the moment lol. I was just about to listen to Year of the Black Rainbow by Coheed (completely different genre I understand) but I decided I'll wait til the day it comes out to go buy it |
Yeahtoast
04.08.10 | Yeah Adam, I really don't get why people lost it :S it was stupid!
Btw, Woe Of Tyrants, I have it downloaded but haven't listened yet! Is it good yus?? |
BigTuna
04.08.10 | Eric, fb me. |
heyadam
04.08.10 | do ya like death metal toast? then yes it is really really good lol. And yeah ive been warned to stay away from Behemoth if I don't like Christian bashing haha |
SeaAnemone
04.08.10 | stay away from reason if you don't like Christian bashing
ugh sorry it was too easy, I'm done now. |
heyadam
04.08.10 | @SeaAnenome yeah man I completely understand what your saying. Its just another form of hypocrisy really, and I hate it. I am a Christian, no doubt, but I am not a hypocrite. There are so many hypocrites in religion in general though, and thats why I hate the term "religion" in the first place. For me, and honest Christians, Christianity is a lifestyle.
But I definitely understand how you feel, I hate it myself |
Yeahtoast
04.08.10 | I love death MEHTUL :)
And yeah, their frontman is facing jail time for ripping up a bible onstage, but I'm sure you're aware of that, most people are xP |
heyadam
04.08.10 | @seaAnenome low blow dude, low blow:p haha its cool man, I understand we all have certain viewpoints. I'm not here to force beliefs, I'm here to enjoy music |
Emim

P.S. No one has recd...
Calico System - The Duplicated Memory
Twelve Tribes - Midwest Pandemic.
Both are pretty solid. |
IRAI
04.08.10 | too bad Zao has never been an overtly christian band, at least after Splinter Shards, when they lost their original vocalist and got Dan Weyandt to vocalize for them.
They have said that said religion has helped themselves through struggles in life, etc, but it has never been meant to be identified anywhere within their lyrics or music, because so many will write a band off with some religious score to settle. which is why i have mad respect for them.
im excluding Splinter Shards because that was a religious-driven album (ex. times of separation, especially), but other than that, they are often lumped into the category unjustifiably, and no one really gives a shit about it but me, because they have been really vocal about this (in their documentary, interviews, etc) because everyone makes it the big question to ask them.
i love Zao, but they are not in this category...sorry.

cvlts
04.08.10 | mof*ckin Naked and Cold- Advent
7 horns 7 eyes. Small local seattle band
cry of the afflicted can be fun sometimes |
heyadam
04.08.10 | @ TheNewWhack, thanks i'll definitely check them out
@ IRAI understandable, and I also love Zao. Even if they aren't overtly Christian. Its all good, it doesn't have to be Christian at all for me to like it |
TheNewWhack
04.08.10 | Advent owns. Cry of the Afflicted... Not so much. Their older stuff, maybe. The Unveiling makes me wanna tear my ears off by hand. It couldn't be more generic. |

TheNewWhack
04.08.10 | You struck a nerve with the "Sputnik Community." A list w/religion thrown in the mix is bound to get TONS of attention.
Positive music ftw! Especially when it's metal.
Do me a favor. Check out Loom's newest album "Selva Molhada," It's not Christian, but it's not offensive or blasphemous... It's just fun as hell. |
heyadam
04.08.10 | haha seriously man! and I definitely will, thanks for the rec. Like I said, I'll listen to anything really but I'm just really digging Christian Metal at the moment |
