| Ingredients for a prog classic
Title explains all. A random order. | 1 | Have a song that clocks in at around the 9 or 10 minutes | 2 | Have a guitar solo for 1 minute and a bass solo for about 20 seconds | 3 | No drum solo | 4 | The addition of flutes and strings | 5 | A drummer that at times plays a polyrhythm | 6 | A layout that goes like this: intro, verse, chorus, breakdown, verse, chorus, bridge's and interlud | 7 | Be at times very loud and at other times very soft | 8 | Build-ups, especially for the final chorus | 9 | An epic intro with use of effects that will not be brought back later into the song | 10 | A whole medieval sphere around it, mainly because of the lyrics | |

11.25.06 | why is there suck a lack of drum solos?? it would be tight if there was more. did you still this from Dream Theater's notes haha | Patrick
11.26.06 | Same tempo as comfortably numb | Bfhurricane
11.26.06 | Nope.
Dream Theater has awesome drum solos. The addition of flutes and strings is necessary for a classic however | jrowa001
11.26.06 | yeah thats right they do, but everything else is like them | wakeupdead
11.27.06 | @jrowa001: You are a drummer aren't you? | wikuk
12.09.06 | ^^ what has that to do with drum solo's. I have been an active drummer for several years, but I just don't like when other instruments take a break to let the drummer do some sh*t. Things that Tool do are awesome, although you can't really call them drum solo's. (the grudge, 46&2) |
