Bloodflowers
"Bloodflowers" - This was supposed to be The Cure's final album (although he's cried wolf several times before and can never pull the plug). This is the album's best track. Love the atmospheric, hollow, thundering drums. | | 27 |  | The Cure

"Friday I'm In Love" - After The Cure put out their greatest album (Disintegration) they had to change back to their lighter pop side and this song completely breathed new life into the band for the '90s. Overplayed and with good reason. | | 26 |  | The Cure

The Top
"Piggy in the Mirror" - The Top was one of, if not thee Cure's strangest, most outright fun album. Robert would alter his voice a bit on this one to give an even stranger feel. The group had an odd swagger with songs on this record, and while it isn't remember as a peak - the creativity was bursting during this period. | | 24 | | The Cure

"Play For Today" - One of their earliest singles, and probably the first cure single to really nail the dark side of their sound, which would be their trademark sound from there on out. Simple, catchy synths carry this one. | | 23 |  | The Cure

"Like Cockatoos" - Another one of the many amazing Cure songs that rarely gets a mention. Lots of instrumental buildup with a brief vocal section. Very twisted vibe from this track. | | 20 | | The Cure

"A Night Like This" - Brilliantly written pop song. This is the point they really started coming into form as the huge, massively popular band they would become. | | 19 |  | The Cure
Wild Mood Swings
"Want" - The best track off one of The Cure's least popular albums. Wonderful guitar heavy, drawn out intro. | | 18 |  | The Cure
Faith
"Faith" - Probably deserves to be higher, but it's tough to fit them all. This album is a near masterpiece, not far behind Pornography and Disintegration. This title track summarizes the feel of this era perfectly. | | 17 | | The Cure
The Top
"Shake Dog Shake" - Another one of The Cure's greatest rockers, the track is dark (obviously), angry and mean. An amazing live track as well. | | 16 | | The Cure
Join the Dots: B-Sides & Rarities 1978-2001
"Stop Dead" - Might be The Cure's most fun b-side (In Between Days a-side) A high energy, synth-heavy, driving song that's about as catchy as anything in their catalog. Was, until the b-sides box set came out, only available on the Staring at the Sea: The Singles & B-sides cassette tape. There are about 2-3 other b-sides from this era that have the same unique, less explored, high energy electronic sound this has. Fun as hell. | | 15 | | The Cure
The Top
"Bananafishbones" - This song is evil. Like a trip to the horror circus with a manic vocal from Robert. Another severely underrated gem. This song sounds like a bad trip but with great hooks. | | 14 |  | The Cure
Three Imaginary Boys
"Three Imaginary Boys" - First song that really sounded like The Cure, off their 1979 debut. Dark, brooding and all around really good. A lot of promise in this track, it holds up to everything that came after. | | 13 |  | The Glove
Blue Sunshine
"Mr. Alphabet Says" - In '83, The Cure briefly disbanded, Robert joined Siouxsie and The Banshees for their Hyena album and then teamed up with fellow Banshee, Steve Severin to do this side project album. Robert only sang on two of the tracks, both fantastic, this the more distinctive of the two. | | 12 | | The Cure

"Fascination Street" - One of the coolest singles from when The Cure could do no wrong. And one of the tracks where Robert was more pissed off than depressed. Good bit of venom in the delivery. | | 11 | | The Cure

"Lament"" - '83-'84 was an awesome era for The Cure. Everything was very colorful and drug induced. Some really fun, catchy, synth-heavy material came out of this era. Underrated album and song, as I've never heard anyone mention it. If you haven't heard this, look into it. | | 10 | | The Cure
Wish
"A Letter to Elise" - Gorgeous little ballad, one of their more underrated singles. Went completely under the radar after "Friday I'm in Love." Nothing earth shattering, but charming and beautiful. MTV Unplugged is the best version of the song, I think. | | 9 | | The Cure

"From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" - A continually building song, it just keeps getting better and better - as if each additional verse is the chorus, until you reach the next chorus-sounding verse. A great live staple as well. | | 8 | | The Cure

"The Drowning Man" - One of the best examples of the brooding sound that The Cure does best. Completely bleak and hopeless. Hurts just listening to this. In a good way, however that works. | | 7 | | The Cure

"The Figurehead" - Probably the crowning jewel of The Cure's darkest, bleakest record. Low, heavy bass with atmospheric, pounding drums and completely hopeless lyrics. If you're into The Cure for the darkest stuff, this might be the key track. Play it loud. | | 6 | | The Cure

"Siamese Twins" - Off one of The Cure's masterpiece albums, this song probably isn't a unanimous favorite, but it twists and writhes in pain better than any of their bleakest, darkest songs. If you can feel this song, it hurts the worst. | | 5 | | The Cure

"Just Like Heaven" - Described by Robert as the best pop song he could have ever written [paraphrase] and it is about close to perfect. You could probably make a case that this is their biggest song, at least in retrospect. It's quite lovely. | | 3 | | The Cure

"Let's Go To Bed" - In 1983, The Cure got too dark to continue down that path. Robert did the opposite and wrote a pop song. This is the track that turned The Cure into a synthpop group.

"Charlotte Sometimes" - Haunting and ethereal. Beautiful, continually building song. Was released as a single between Faith and Pornography. Something very special about the song that couldn't be replicated. | | 1 | | The Cure
