03.25.10 | in sort of random order. |
BigHans
03.25.10 | I also left off everything Post Grunge related, and albums released after 1994 by any of these bands, as the movement died after that. |
AnotherBrick1
03.25.10 | STP is easily my favorite grunge band |
SeaAnemone
03.25.10 | ok good. I came onto this list for the sole purpose of making sure Screaming Trees were here. well done. |
Romulus
03.25.10 | yesss 1 I just skimmed the rest but the list wins for having 1 as 1 |
BigHans
03.25.10 | Its a crime the Screaming Trees didn't get much pub. |
DoubtGin
03.25.10 | i was searching for Jeremy and it was 46 |
BigHans
03.25.10 | Like a said, sort of random order, except maybe the top 10. |
bungy
03.25.10 | Great job! Never got into Hole and never listened to PAW more than a couple times. |
Inveigh
03.25.10 | SO MUCH good stuff on here. I'm a big fan of Fell On Black Days by Soundgarden (was that after 1994? I can't remember) and Once and Not For You by Pearl Jam, but most of my favorite grunge songs are on here. Ooh, also Dumb by Nirvana, but props for identifying Penny Royal Tea as the best song off Nirvana's best (and only truly great, imo) album. |
AliW1993
03.25.10 | no scentless apprentice by nirvana? :(
still, awesome list, props for 48 |
BigHans
03.25.10 | Superunknown was in 94 I believe. Never loved Fell on Black Days, although its better than My Wave or Black Hole Sun as far as singles go.
Basically what I meant is I intentionally left off post Jar of Flies AIC, post Vs Pearl jam, and Post Superunknown Soundgarden, which means no tracks from AIC's self titlted, no Vitology, and no Down on the Upside. |
maidenpmcc
03.25.10 | Glad to see Nirvana - Come As You Are.
Lounge Act is an awesome song of Nirvana. |
WatchItExplode
03.25.10 | list lacks Vasoline...I love me some grunge though, well done Hans
|
coneren
03.25.10 | 7 and 9 are in my top 10 ever. Awesome list |
BigHans
03.25.10 | yeah I figured someone would bring up Vasoline. I never really liked that one as much, Big Empty, Interstate Love Song, and unglued cream it IMO. That said, the riff is pretty infectious. |
Inveigh
03.25.10 | yeah, I never really liked Vasoline either. oh, what was the name of the song that was like, "I am smelling like a rose that somebody gave me on my birthday death bead, I AA-AM, smellin' like a rose that somebody gave me cause I'm dead and bloated!" ?? |
BigHans
03.25.10 | I had a hard time leaving Dead and Bloated and Piece of Pie from Core off of this.
I run through the world thinkin bout tomorrowwwwwwwww |
Inveigh
03.25.10 | great songs |
JWT155
03.25.10 | Awesome list. |

03.25.10 |
Best forgotten grunge track:
For Squirrels - Mighty KC
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBbl3RpgNN4
Half the band died when their bus crashed, just as this single was starting to get national attention. Song/lyrics are quite powerful (and sad) when considering the circumstance.

03.25.10 | Love the different bands on here; glad it isn't just Nirvana/Pearl Jam/STP/Alice In Chains. Speaking of which, I would've thrown on "Rooster;" it seems like the oddest choice of a single ever, but it's probably my favorite AIC song. Still, excellent list.
Also, STP is the only band I know who can simultaneously sound like The Beatles ("Sour Girl"), Nirvana ("Creep"), Pearl Jam ("Plush"), and somewhat Metallica-ish or Pantera-ish (or something similar; "Dead and Bloated"). Great band. |
BigHans
03.25.10 | Christ RobotFrank I completely forgot that song existed. |
BigHans
03.25.10 | Mashocist, you have a great point. Plush is a bigger PJ ripoff than any Creed song. Sour Girl, and half of Tiny Music sounds like the Beatles. Most of the Volume 4 stuff is near metal, like No Way Out.
that said, the first time I heard Dead and Bloated, the first song I ever heard from them as I bought the tape without hearing a single song, I immediately thought of Alice in Chains. |
porch
03.25.10 | That For Squirrels song sounds like a less impressive R.E.M. tbh |
PigDestroyer89
03.25.10 | ^come at me bro |
WatchItExplode
03.25.10 | piece of pie defintely rules
|
Mikesn
03.25.10 | I didn't listen to it much at first, but Release has become one of my favourite Pearl Jam songs. That and Garden. |
BigHans
03.26.10 | Yeah Release is one of my all time favorite songs, probably top ten. |
Dylan620
03.26.10 | Awesome list, I love approx. two-thirds of the songs on here. 53, 57, "Down in a Hole" (AiC), "The Day I Tried to Live" (SG), and 15 would probably be my top 5. |
Dylan620
03.26.10 | Also love "Again" (AiC, 1995). |
BigHans
03.26.10 | I am a huge Facelift and Dirt fanboy, but for some reason I have never liked AIC's S/T. Just never clicked with me. |
EnricoPalazzo
03.26.10 | Welcome to the STP/AIC/Nirvana/Soundgarden show. |
BigHans
03.26.10 | Dont forget Pearl Jam.
Everyone should check out Screaming Trees though for a different take on Grunge, or Mudhoney and Mother Love bone to see how it all got started. |
EnricoPalazzo
03.26.10 | Never really could get into Grunge aside from songs like Would? and Smells Like Teen Spirit. |
Rugter32
03.26.10 | 7, 30, 36, 38, 43, 44, 45, 46, FUCKING 50, 53 and 58 own. A lot. |
Counterfeit
03.26.10 | Woot woot for also being from MN!
Pretty tight list, also. |
Prolapse
05.06.10 | 27 is the greatest song ever |
BigHans
05.06.10 | It is fucking awesome, although my fave off Vs is "Leash." |
PearlDrummer20
05.22.10 | needs just a bit more Mother Love Bone, besides, the death of that singer is how Temple Of The Dog came about. |
BigHans
09.02.10 | Heres the Bible Feit. |
greg84
09.02.10 | The list lacks at least 10 essential tracks of TAD. I'm shocked that literally no one cares about them right now. |
Counterfeit
09.02.10 | Heard 51 out of 60. They all slay. |
porch
09.02.10 | greg, I like some TAD every now and then |
greg84
09.02.10 | Thanks Porch. At least U. |
Maniac!
09.02.10 | Pearl Jam - Garden is better than some of the songs on here, but decent list I guess. |
BigHans
09.02.10 | I had always heard of Tad but never actually listened. |
greg84
09.02.10 | Well. Your mistake. |
BigHans
09.02.10 | sounds like it. |
