Top 5 Metal Dumming Albums
After years of metal listening abuse, I have formed a conclusion of which I think are the top 5 metal drumming albums of all time.
An album which got sub-par reviews ironically earns the fifth spot. Many have said the drumming on this album was far too fast, but what's wrong with a little speed? The fastest double bass I've ever heard was on this album, and some of the finest fills compliment.
Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
Dimmu Borgir is a huge name in metal today and their beast of a drummer, Nicholas Barker, gives one of the most jaw-dropping metal drumming performances on Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia.
|3||Lamb Of God|
Ashes Of The Wake
Chris Adler is also, arguably, one of metal's finest drummers. He implements complex and quick patterns into Lamb Of God's extreme groove based music. His finest, and tightest, drum performance is shown on this album.
Inferno is a rising star in today's metal scene. He's one of metal's finest drummers and doesn't fall short on a single track on this album. Drummer -> Inferno
Sound of Perseverance
Death's final, and most technically complex, album. Contains what many call "ghost notes", incredible drum beats and insanely complex, but listenable, cymbal usage. Drummer -> Richard Christy
Would of thought Tomas Haake would of featured here but very solid list anyway.
People who hate on Chris Adler are misinformed, guy's a great drummer. I would include:
Any Tourniquet album
August Burns Red - Constellations
Antestor - The Forsaken (it's got Hellhammer drumming on it)
Meshuggah's drummer is very good, don't get me wrong, but I didn't see where any of their albums would fit here.
Seriously though, needs some Ted Kirkpatrick on here. One of the few drummers that actually makes the drums more than just a percussion instrument, if that makes any sense.
Lol I'm sorry but I could only make this from what I knew. *shrugs*
demon of surveillance
Needs more Painkiller and Lateralus.
Good call on 3 and 4, I completely forgot about those albums. I don't have 2, but Inferno was beastly on Demigod. I'll also say Train of Thought by Dream Theater, Mike Portnoy is one of my favorites.
tomas haake, alex hernandez, jamie saint merat, dave haley...
chris pennie if you want to call DEP metal
You honestly think 3 deserves to be in the list of metal's best drumming albums? No doubt hes a great drummer, but hes done better on some of the other LOG records if you ask me. But hey to each their own.
i would have dream theater's Train of Thought in mine for sure.
I do think it deserves it, I have every LoG album, and I thought his was best on this Ashes of the Wake.
Wasn't too over the top, or too cumbersome for me.
I understand.
list could use some rust in peace.
UNLEASH THE CARNIVORE BY DEVOURMENT
PSALMS OF THE MORIBUND BY DEFEATED SANITY
OBZEN BY MESHUGGAH
Will look into it, ButcheredChildren.
But this is a list of my ELITE choices... chosen from a list of about 50 favorites.
hat is dumming
dude, atheist.
Morbid Angel Drum Check
Cryptopsy Drum Solo
Flo Mournier is one of the greatest drummers of the century
Cynic - Traced In Air
