Brand New 3.0: So This Is The New Year...
Alright so i just got back 3 days ago from my grandparents' place in London, where i spent the last month or so. I very nearly killed myself while on this trip for 2 reasons. #1: my grandparents' internet access was down the entire time, and they didn't bother fixing it because they never use it anyway. #2: my laptop was wrecked on the flight over. Suffice it to say...i was royally pissed. Anyways, now that i'm back home i can submit that Eisley review i've had done for ages (thankfully i recovered my hard drive). And this list is some killer New Year's songs, which i for some odd reason have felt very attracted to lately.
Jet Black New Year
"Have we lost everything now?
Walking like each other's ghosts around these silent streets. The sedatives tell you everything is alright.
Like calendars dying at New Year's Eve parties.
As we kiss hard on the lips and swear:
This year will be better then the last."
Fave New Year's Song hands down...Geoff Rickley is a genius. Such a kickass song...a perfect expression of emotion and aggression.

The New Year
"So this is the new year.
And i don't feel any different."
Obligatory. The New Year doesn't really arrive until you hear this.
Auld Land Syne
Classic classic classic
New Year's Day
Favorite U2 song, no doubt. "Though I want to be with you, be with you night and day...nothing changes on New Year's Day."
Fairytale of New York
Fuck my deion...i'm doing a Christmas song too. And this is the best one there is.
My Dear Acqaintance (A Happy New Year)
I WANT THAT VOICE
New Year's Prayer
Once again, epic voice. Such a mysterious and chilled-out song.
Funky New Year
"Went to a party, just last night.
Wanted to bring the New Year in right.
Woke up this morning, i don't know how.
Last night i was a happy man, but the way i feel now...
It's gonna be a FUNKY NEW YEAR." Yeah, i like funky music.
Bringin' In A Brand New Year
B.B. King, can you be my grandpa? Cuz i love you.
Tomorrow I'll Be You
"How long can the wheels maintain a spin at this velocity?
Dead forests of tenements rise like antennas.
The miles are adding up and the days are counting down.
Before we're bathed in the dawn of New Year's Day." This song is the sequel to Jet Black New Year, and amazingly it's just as good. Once again, Geoff's lyrics blow my mind. Awesome.
why does it still say deion? haha whatever.
never seen a list of New Year's songs, so this is my contribution guys :)
cool list Leyla...i also love those 2 Thursday songs :)
sorry to hear about your holidays though, that didn't sound fun at all.
yeah it was pretty bad, i felt so disconnected lol.
yay 2, I agree, it's not the new year 'till you've heard that.
I thought this was a list about Brand New. Anyway, always nice to see some Jeff Buckley.
oh look Scorpion i'm your alt now! lol
Caleb why must you be so pessimistic?
The New Whack: Brand New YEAR. that was my point haha. but yeah Buckley's great.
Knott: the new strikey?
7 is so ridiculously talented.. /avatar
lol Caleb
and yeah strikey is now Knott-
there's a pun in there somewhere haha
oh that was you with the Buckley avatar! well, 100 awesome points to you then :)
your total's up to 300 now!
I always listen to that Death Cab song on new years. Props for including some U2 from their best album (although I can say that's probably not in my top 10 U2 songs, it might be close).
what's the over/under on comments for this list?
i approve :)
nobody but Caleb is making accusations about me not being a girl, and i'm not attracting undue attention. so i would say it's a success.
Great list :) im actually listening to the new year now haha death cab :)
