Ruggy' Top 10 Of 2009

Title says it all.
1Katatonia
Night is the New Day

****ing AOTY. Great stuff here, takes time to grow, but once it grows on you, it becomes completely awesome. No filler at all.
2Alice in Chains
Black Gives Way to Blue

Surprisingly better than what I expected. Surely a great way for them to return after 15 years.
3Megadeth
Endgame

This should have been the album that followed RiP. It's that good.
4Dream Theater
Black Clouds and Silver Linings

Sure, Wither and A Rite of Passage may not be as great as the others, and the lyrics might be pathetic at times (The Count of Tuscany, for example), but they managed to create a great album that doesn't disappoint, at least in my opinion.
5Epica
Design Your Universe

Their best album. One of the best symphonic metal albums of the year. They've really progressed.
6Dawn of Tears
Dark Chamber Litanies

It's an EP. SO WHAT. It's still amazing, and one of the best things to have come out this year. If you haven't, check my review. There's my opinion, if you care.
7Believer
Gabriel

Badass technical thrash here. They really did a good job with this one.
8Porcupine Tree
The Incident

Their worst offering of the 2000s, yet still a solid album. They've surprised me with their consistent quality.
9Paramore
Brand New Eyes

Paramore just keep improving. Friggin catchy, and even though it gets kinda weak in the middle part, it returns with some great songs to close.
10Slayer
World Painted Blood

The album that I was expecting would've managed to get to the top 5. Sadly, it didn't. A really solid release by Slayer, yet didn't match my expectations. Still, cool stuff here.
