Rating Slayer

Rating Slayer's full length studio releases.
1Slayer
Reign in Blood

A masterpiece among masterpieces. Maybe the most important metal album, period.
2Slayer
Seasons in the Abyss

More varied songwriting than RIB, a genius mix of slow and fast, and legendary breakdowns.
3Slayer
Hell Awaits

Poor production is its Achilles' heel. Already showing promises of what was yet to come.
4Slayer
World Painted Blood

Yes, it's that good. So good it makes you forget about the n-stuff attempts that plagued this band since 1998. The production is different, and many fans don't seem to like it. I do, it fits, and the songs are vintage Slayer.
5Slayer
Divine Intervention

Continuing in the veins of Seasons, killer breakdowns, great riffs, before they tried to go n. Could've been a complete failure without Lombardo, but it wasn't.
6Slayer
South Of Heaven

Some classic songs (the title track, for one), and some of their worst (Spill the Blood). Hit or miss, but when it hits, it kills.
7Slayer
Show No Mercy

Allright, many fans would rank this one much higher. It is a good album and much like Kill 'em All for Metallica, a good, promising start, but by no means the best they could do.
8Slayer
Christ Illusion

The return of the gifted Lombardo, but still lots of uninspired, un-Slayeresque n riffs. The first Slayer blast-beats on Supremist.
9Slayer
God Hates Us All

The song Disciple saves this album. Some groovy lines here and there, some funny ones ("I keep the bible in a pool of blood so that none of its lies can affect me!", are you serious? Just throw away that bible, man...). Bad down-tuned open-string strumming... At the heart of their n-groovy-experimentation.
10Slayer
Diabolus In Musica

Good title, nice cover, bad advertising. How could this be Slayer? It starts OK with Bitter Peace, and then it's downhill...
11Slayer
Undisputed Attitude

Ok, I didn't want to rate this one, but then noticed I had selected 11 options for 10 studio albums. Just ignore this one, although I might rate it here, never listened to this one much...
