| Rating Slayer
Rating Slayer's full length studio releases. | 1 | | Slayer Reign in Blood
A masterpiece among masterpieces. Maybe the most important metal
album, period. | 2 | | Slayer Seasons in the Abyss
More varied songwriting than RIB, a genius mix of slow and fast, and legendary
breakdowns. | 3 | | Slayer Hell Awaits
Poor production is its Achilles' heel. Already showing promises of what was yet to
come. | 4 | | Slayer World Painted Blood
Yes, it's that good. So good it makes you forget about the nü-stuff attempts that
plagued this band since 1998. The production is different, and many fans don't seem to
like it. I do, it fits, and the songs are vintage Slayer. | 5 | | Slayer Divine Intervention
Continuing in the veins of Seasons, killer breakdowns, great riffs, before they
tried to go nü. Could've been a complete failure without Lombardo, but it wasn't. | 6 | | Slayer South Of Heaven
Some classic songs (the title track, for one), and some of their worst (Spill the Blood). Hit or
miss, but when it hits, it kills. | 7 | | Slayer Show No Mercy
Allright, many fans would rank this one much higher. It is a good album and much like Kill 'em All for
Metallica, a good, promising start, but by no means the best they could do. | 8 | | Slayer Christ Illusion
The return of the gifted Lombardo, but still lots of uninspired, un-Slayeresque nü riffs.
The first Slayer blast-beats on Supremist. | 9 | | Slayer God Hates Us All
The song Disciple saves this album. Some groovy lines here and there, some funny ones ("I
keep the bible in a pool of blood so that none of its lies can affect me!", are you serious? Just
throw away that bible, man...). Bad down-tuned open-string strumming... At the heart of their
nü-groovy-experimentation. | 10 | | Slayer Diabolus In Musica
Good title, nice cover, bad advertising. How could this be Slayer? It starts OK with Bitter
Peace, and then it's downhill... | 11 | | Slayer Undisputed Attitude
Ok, I didn't want to rate this one, but then noticed I had selected 11 options for 10
studio albums. Just ignore this one, although I might rate it here, never listened to
this one much... | |

11.30.09 | I have the top 2, and they f*****g Slay!...er | Inveigh
11.30.09 | Not bad, though not sure I agree completely. I'd go:

Seasons in the Abyss
South of Heaven
Hell Awaits
Christ Illusion
Divine Intervention
World Painted Blood
Show No Mercy
God Hates Us All
Diabolus In Musica
But that's just me. | jagride
11.30.09 | putting world painted blood that high is retarded | SlightlyEpic
11.30.09 | SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | KILL
11.30.09 | world painted blood that high = lololol5o6l45o45l6ol45olololol456olloolol | feav233
11.30.09 | 1-3, not a terrible top 3, hahaha but after that you are an idiot | PuerkitoBio
11.30.09 | :) I knew I'd get hate mail with WPB. They love Seasons, and hate WPB, while it's really its continuation. And by the way (I'm sure everybody figured it out but still), the nü is really "nu" with the points over it... I guess it's called a "umlaut" in english, I'm not sure. Comes out like a square cause of the page encoding. | somberlain
11.30.09 | their 1st 5 albums are the best, not sure of the order but you got the 1st 2 right | Nagrarok
11.30.09 | Maybe the most important metal album, period.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Not even close. | PuerkitoBio
11.30.09 | RE: Reign in blood
Metalstorm: "The greatest metal record of all time"
Q (7/01, p.91) - Included in Q's "50 Heaviest Albums of All Time"
Q (8/00, p.127) - Included in Q's "Best Metal Albums Of All Time"
Allmusic: "stone-cold classic."
Stylus Magazine: "genre-definer," "the greatest metal album of all time."
And that's after 2 minutes of googling... Get some metal perspective and knowledge... | Nagrarok
11.30.09 | Opinions, not facts. RIB is a great album, don't get me wrong. Have a look at my review if you wish. It just stands very far from being classic, let alone best metal album of all time. | KILL
11.30.09 | opinions, not facts :P | PuerkitoBio
12.01.09 | The fact is, many professional opinions reflect mine... | Jesuslaves
12.01.09 | Reign In Blood
Hell Awaits
South of Heaven
Seasons
World Painted Blood
Christ Illusion
Diabolus
Show No Mercy
God Hates Us All
Divine Intervention
Seriously, Divine sucks. Seasons is damn good but kinda overrated. And yes, WPB is a fine thrash album, and anyone that doesn't realize this is of subpar intellect. | TheSpirit
12.01.09 | Still doesn't make it fact | Yazz_Flute
12.01.09 | Reign in Blood is overrated. It's great but Seasons is much better imo. also Spill the Blood was probably my favorite track on South of Heaven. | Jesuslaves
12.01.09 | NO SIR | Eakflanderyof
12.01.09 | The fact is, most professional opinions are candy-coated bullshit.
I do agree it's highly important, though. And I have to agree with the others on WPB. Thrash albums shouldn't have production like a pop punk album. It doesn't feel right. | KILL
12.01.09 | haha | PuerkitoBio
12.01.09 | @Nagrarok: Just because you don't have the background and knowledge of metal (and extreme metal) to appreciate the importance of RIB (and what it bred) doesn't make it less important. Your opinion is no more a fact (is much less a fact, in fact :) than the opinions of all those professional critics and historians of music. "Fact" is an inappropriate word in art appreciation, though that doesn't mean all opinions weigh the same.
There are obviously a bunch of "important" metal albums, that's why I say "maybe the more important", since ranking this handful of albums is highly subjective, as anyone with basic understanding of music would recognize. But it has its place among these albums, regardless of what you might think (blame it on your lack of metal experience). | TheSpirit
12.02.09 | theres no such thing as an opinion thats closer to a true fact than another opinion. | Ire
12.02.09 | Haunting the Chapel ep needs to be at no 1
other than that you have my top 3 | PuerkitoBio
12.02.09 | @TheIndomitableSpirit: Of course there is such a thing, even though "Closer to a true fact" is nonsense, but I get your point. A Britney Spears' fan appreciation of Napalm Death is not as accurate as, say, Albert Mudrian's opinion. It's all about background, experience and perspective about your subject. You can't judge the quality of a death metal album if all you know about "metal" is Ratt. Or, to be more accurate, you CAN judge (as in "you're free to say what you want about it"), but your judgment is worth shit... | ctibor
12.04.09 | Slayer defined the extrem metal sector with Rain in Blood.
Although I favor Seasons... because of its bigger variety its
the greatest metalalbum of all time, absolutely ageless.
I still listen to every Slayeralbum and I think Diabolous...
is a little bit underrated. I read one article, which claimed
after the publication of Diabolous, its the Soundtrack to the
new century. And please you all Metallica-fags...Don´t write
any comments, when you only have in mind to offend the
lists editor. | Asiatic667
12.04.09 |
Maybe the most important metal album, period
I'm pretty sure that honor would go to Black Sabbath | GnarlyShillelagh
12.12.09 | 4 is really bad |
