My Fallbacks

When in doubt, I turn to these albums. Whether it be a bad day, or the need to cleanse myself of some radio garbage, these albums always put a smile on my face.
1Every Time I Die
Hot Damn!

I could really list all of their albums, but I'll just do this one. The combination of good riffs, thought-provoking lyrics, and all-around swagger made me love this group forevermore.
2 Glassjaw
Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence

This is the album that turned my attention away from the pop-punk radio rock. It was pretty much like Dorothy walking into the color from the old black and white, no homo.
3Protest The Hero
Kezia

I can't say anything that hasn't been said about this album already. It's rare for me to not succumb to A.D.D. while listening to an album, but this one never fails to reward me for my patience to listen from start to finish.
4Between The Buried And Me
Colors

Love the album, loved it even more after I saw them play it live from start to finish. My anticipation for this album was at a fever pitch, and it didn't disappoint.
5Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster
III

The first two albums were great, their most recent album was just another step in the right direction. Their progression from album to album makes me excited about their future, but thankful for the present.
6Alestorm
Captain Morgan's Revenge

It saddens me to think at one time I scoffed at the idea of pirate metal (briefly before I checked their myspace). I cannot help but to smile while listening to the blitzkrieg of guitars combined with pirate lyrics. Also, it's a great album to drink to.
7As I Lay Dying
An Ocean Between Us

As a fan of their previous albums, I was expecting more of the same with this one. Thankfully I was wrong and thus rewarded with an album that had my mp3 running out of battery power for many days.
8Architects
Hollow Crown

I absolutely love this album, if nothing else, because it embodies what the rest of the metalcore world wishes they could be (if you consider them metalcore...which seems to be the common label for everything).
9The Syncope Threshold
Tale of the Complex Circuit

A more recent find, and a good one at that. It sounds as if Coheed and Cambria and Protest The Hero had a child. Also, their cover of Tom Sawyer is killer.
10Eluveitie
Slania

This album is great because it shows that a flute can be metal...not Jethro Tull metal, actual metal.
