| 5 Things That Will Suck In 09

It dominated most of 2008 and I'm assuming will be having a repeat year. Pretty much self-explanatory but here's the explanation regardless: I'm so tired of getting friend requests from bands who spend more time (and seemingly money) on getting an attractive layout and crystal clear photographs than on writing and recording good sounding music. | | 2 | Take Action Tour
I've had great moments with this tour. Between being introduced to Paramore as an opening band (oh memories), crowd surfing possibly my longest distance ever during Silverstein, seeing Red Jumpsuit deliver one of their only good live performances (1 out of 3 ain't bad, HA) before Hollywood turned them into snobs, and watching Emery deliver an incredibly powerful and emotional performance, I've been quite impressed with the majority of bands on the bill. This year Cute is What We Aim For is IMO the best band on the tour...yikes. | | 3 | AP Tour
I read and enjoy Alternative Press, sue me. I think they generally have great taste in music. I'll keep this simple and say I really want to know what they had in Cleveland, Ohio when they put this tour together, cause it blows. | | 4 | Local music
Pretty much sucks now. I remember the days when it used to be fun to go to local shows. Where I live (Maryland for those who don't know) half of the bands want to be the next All Time Low, and the other half are pretty much either experimental yet boring or just plain suck. There is a small handful of names who have a great sound but unlike my previous two favorites will probably break up later this year. Poo. | | 5 | Screamo/cruck
Ok honestly I thought it would be awhile before something in music got more annoying than every other 'death metal' band putting three breakdowns in a song. Whoever got the bright idea to scream their guts out while putting so-called 'crunk' and 'club' beats behind it deserves to die. I Set My Friends on Fire, brokencyde, Breathe Carolina, and all of this other stuff (read: crap) is by far the worst trend to hit airwaves in years. Nuff said. | |
