Bands/Artists/DJs I saw in 2023

Recapping live music of the year I experienced. I had quite an amazing year in shows. Please share your experiences with me!
1Hodge
Remixes In Blue

Went b2b with a local DJ who throws my fav parties out here in CO. 3 hours of techy garage bangers.
2upsammy
Another Place

170 BPM IDM at 4 AM after the garage bender. Killed the vibe and we went home lol. Still love her music and would give her another chance.
3100 Gecs
10,000 gecs

So much fun getting to hear the new tracks live. Always a pleasure. Machine Girl was the perfect opener but I am not that familiar with them
4Janet Jackson
Control

Went to Florida w my gf to catch this tour and it was among the best we've seen this year. Honored to have seen the greatest of all time in our hometown. 10/10.
5Ludacris
Chicken-n-Beer

The perfect opener for Janet. Nothing but classic hits and good vibes.
6 Sully
Swandive

Surprised this EP is not on Sput. Two hours of jungle, D&B, hardcore and rave at the best club in Denver. Absolutely blew my mind and need to see him again.
7Dwarde and Tim Reaper
Globex Corp Black Label

These two set up Sully nicely for one of the best club nights of my life. Another 2 hours of jungle and drum n bass goodness but more reserved.
8Dying Fetus
Make Them Beg for Death

Mosh masters. Came out of mosh retirement for this one lol
9Suicide Silence
The Cleansing

Had to sit through them to get to Fetus. Was cool to hear No Pity for a Coward but the band is not for me at 31 lol.
10Born of Osiris
The New Reign

Another band I loved in high school and playing mostly old songs. Unfortunately, far past their prime and seem to be clinging to what made them pop.
11Aborted
Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture

Band sounds incredible these days. Happy to see them thriving.
12Sanguisugabogg
Homicidal Ecstasy

They threw a football into the pit and said whoever brings it to the mercy booth gets free merchandise. Awesome!!!!
13Death Grips
The Money Store

Had not seen them in 10 years prior to this show. Band is in top form and are a must see if you can.
14SHERELLE
Dekmantel Festival 2022

More jungle fun. You already know how SHERELLE gets down. Just YouTube the set.
15Mor Elian
Double Dip

For my techno/electro heads. She never misses.
16LCD Soundsystem
LCD Soundsystem

Putting the whole tour package here as I have mixed feelings about the openers. Peaches was absolutely amazing and raunchy. Felt bad for those who brought their kids as her dancers were dressed in vagina suits lol. M.I.A. was straight up bad. Voice is so shot and was climbing on top of the rocks at Red Rocks for attention. Sad to see. LCD was on fire and sounded amazing. I am ashamed it took me this long to catch em.
17King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard
PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of...

This was an all day show at Red Rocks where we got there at 12PM and left at 11:30PM. Day time set at 1:30 was amazing and may have been the best I've heard the band. I can't wait for the recording to drop. We then got to hear this album in full in between the day and night sets before its release which was a major treat. We then suffered a thunderstorm before the night show and got totally rained on. Only brought on the energy for the night set. Band really balanced their heavier and chiller sides for both sets.
18INVT
Prendida

Miami's Finest and some of the most consistent club/dance producers in the game. Iykyk.
19The String Cheese Incident
'Round The Wheel

Not sure how Sput rocks w jam bands but Cheese holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. Unfortunately, this was the weakest show I've seen in my many incidents. Still fun!
20Sound Tribe Sector 9
Artifact

Another jam band that I absolutely love. Three sets of their weird space funk meets electronic sound including an all improv set. Def an acquired taste and needs to be experienced live.
21Ween
Quebec

Three hours of Ween at Red Rocks enough said....
22Bicep
Bicep

Saw a live set last year which was incredible and this time was a DJ set. This was one for the heads which I really appreciated. Openers killed it as well. Highlight was hearing Caterpillar by Pariah
23Octo Octa
Resonant Body

All-vinyl set in a small warehouse with no air conditioning with a ton of my friends. Doesn't get better!
24Janelle Monae
The Age of Pleasure

I was skeptical about this one as I was not crazy about this album but love Janelle both on record and live. We ended up getting cheap tickets so I went. Openers were absolute trash too which further scared me. Janelle smoked her show and the new songs translated better live in my opinion. Def go see her!
25Deltron 3030
Deltron 3030

I will be honest, I don't know too much of Deltron's music but getting to see them open for Wu-Tang was so cool.
26Run the Jewels
RTJ4

Direct support for the Wu and couldn't have asked for a better opener. Pure energy.
27Wu-Tang Clan
Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Only bummer was Method Man missed his flight. The Wu proved why they are still regarded as the goats. Timeless music.
28King Krule
Space Heavy

Was not a fan of King Krule until I saw him live years ago. This was my first time in almost 8 years and Archy just keeps getting better. The jams, the vocals, the energy was incredible! Next time I hope he chooses a better opener
29DJ Stingray
Psyops for Dummies

I often tell people DJ Stingray played the best techno/electro set I've seen in my life. Seeing him again reminded me why I love those genres. He is on another level.
30Snarky Puppy
Live at the Royal Albert Hall

Live jazz just hits different compared to other genres. The whole band was on fire and they had Beyonce's drummer with them which was crazy. Nate Wood Four the opener is a one band who is amazingly talented as well
31Nick León/DJ Python
'esplit ep'

I was lucky enough to go back to my hometown of Miami and catch a night of Suero. This is Nick and Python's residency at Floyd/Club Space and they played a wonderful opening set to prepare the headliner Anz. Reggaeton drums and Latin influenced club music, these guys smashed it!
32Anz
Loos In Twos

Finally got to see Anz after being a major fan of her productions and NTS show and it did not disappoint. What a perfect headliner for Suero. The selections and variety were amazing and everything flowed together effortlessly. Def one of my fav DJ sets of the year.
33Blood Incantation
Luminescent Bridge

Not super familiar with the band but they killed it opening for the Cannibal Corpse tour. Need to go through the catalog.
34Gorguts
The Erosion of Sanity

Legends of the game playing old shit. Sounded even better live than on record.
35Mayhem
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas

Not big on most black metal and thought this was corny as hell. Took the time to sit down before Corpse
36Cannibal Corpse
Chaos Horrific

Its insane how great they sound this late into their career. It seems like they are only getting better. Corpsegrinder is the greatest frontman.
37Luke Vibert
Lover's Acid

Old school breaks and IDM at 5PM at Red Rocks. Prob the best opener of the year.
38EPROM
Samurai

Played a DJ set that brought me back to my early club years in 2013-2015. Really fun
39Digital Mystikz
Haunted/Anti War Dub

Dubstep legends bringing the UK culture to the states. Was amazing getting to see them smash it on a big stage.
40Amon Tobin
Permutation

Playing a DJ set under his Two Fingers moniker. Really psychedelic dubstep that took me for a trip
41G Jones
Paths

G Jones headlined the show with the previous 4. We left during his set as we are not that familiar with his music honestly. May go back and revisit!
42Primitive Man
Scorn

Loud as fuck
43Botch
We Are the Romans

Crazy how they have been out of the game 20 years and it sounds like they never left. Flawless show and I tore it up in the pit!
44Doctor Jeep
Push the Body

Awesome DJ who I just saw last weekend. No care for genre or BPM but without impacting the vibe of the party. Soooo nasty
45Zenker Brothers
Cosmic Transmission

This one had been a long time coming as we have been fans of the Zenker for a minute. They tore it up, with a wonderful dubstep intro then bouncing between techno, breaks and everything in between. Truly a wonderful night between them, Doctor Jeep and the local opener Libuse.
46Jessy Lanza
Love Hallucination

My 2nd time seeing Jessy and it was phenomenal as usual. Her tasteful blend of electronic and pop only seems to get better.
47Yaeji
With A Hammer

Got see Yaeji headline her tour for this record and her performances only seem to get better. Choreographed dance moves, ton of new material and her confidence blend together for one of my most fun live shows of the year.
48Future Islands
Singles

Sam Herring is such a goated frontman. Worth seeing for him alone.
49Castrator
Defiled in Oblivion

Saw/heard of them for the first time ever last night. Pretty good!
50Sanguisugabogg
Pornographic Seizures

Saw them for a second time this year. They did mosh ball again and Devin had the venue call the guy who caught the ball a bitch for not staying in the pit lol. Also met Cody and Ced from the band who signed my shirt.
51Immolation
Dawn of Possession

Admittedly, I haven't listened to much Immolation but knew I had to catch them platy. Holy moly, I was blown away. These guys are beyond dialed in and prove why they have had such a consistent career. Definitely will be digging into the entire discography asap.
52Cattle Decapitation
Terrasite

Caught about half of their set up as I was getting Bogg merch and it snowed during the show. They sounded really great and I was unaware they had added clean vocals into the mix. Need to give them a proper shot next time they are in town.
