Don't bother commenting on any of my lists - you probably don't have anything nice to say anyway. | 1 | | Transatlantic The Final Flight: Live At L'Olympia
These lists are for studio albums, but I have to at least acknowledge this, so here's an honourable mention. Seeing this phenomenal band live was an incredible experience and a dream come true, and I feel truly lucky to be able to return to those magical moments in Paris. Simply amazing. "Words cannot describe the feeling", indeed. | 2 | | Metallica 72 Seasons
This is definitely not a BAD album, but it's not what I expected from Metallica, both in terms of style and overall enjoyment. I'm sure I'll change my mind over time, but at this point in time, these are my honest feelings. The title song is a fucking banger though, love it. | 3 | | Avenged Sevenfold Life Is But a Dream...
I liked this album a lot - not necessarily because of the music itself, but mostly because what it represents. This album is weird, avant-garde, incoherent at times, very experimental and can sometimes be very difficult to process or understand. These are all allegedly "bad" things, but in reality this is an album of a band that has grown and freed itself from any attempt to impress, to show off, and from everything that anyone might think about them. This is an album they created from themselves and is representing them fully. There are no attempts at flattery to an audience, or to record labels, or to radio stations - this album feels like it is the manifestation of their souls which they present to the listener at the purest form. | 4 | | Avenged Sevenfold Life Is But a Dream...
Musically speaking, this is a pretty messy album, to a degree where it can even feel a bit random at times. At one moment they're playing brutal death metal, then suddenly they start playing psychedelic electronic music, then it kinda sounds like they go back to their original late 2000's sound only to actually play a melancholic piano melody. This is a chaotic album, but there's no chaos - only a journey, a journey that Avenged Sevenfold is going through in real time and is taking the listener along for the ride.
(This is the first time I actually reached the character limit here lol) | 5 | | Neal Morse The Dreamer - Joseph: Part One
Pretty good! I'm not a huge fan of rock operas, but there's a lot to like here. | |
