12.02.21 | 18 is a record i neeeed. i wouldnt call it all a loss yet buuut you're not going to be able to sell any of them, one of my record stores sells stuff 'as-is' and i've gotten uriah heep stuff for like 2 dollars because it was warped, howweverrr warping has little effect on the sound quality as long as the needle doesn't jump grooves, groovewear from worn out needles is more detectable soundwise. some record players work better than others at warped stuff [generally have bad luck with diamondtip stuff[also also severly warped records 'are said' to potentially damage super high end stylus' if they jump around juust right, if you've got a basic player i wouldn't worry too much]. i generally keep my stuff upright leaning against a wall and haven't had much trouble but temperature can be a motherfucker, pretty much every record store i've been too has their shit slightly leaning tho.
whatever's minorly warped i'd try throwing some books ontop of to press back flat, juuust make sure the record/jacket/etcs clean cuz you could be pressing debris staight into the grove. there's also a couple gimmicky record flattener tools buuut i'd be wary of putting any of them into an oven/heat/etc |

12.02.21 | "storing them on a shelf, leaned up against eachother"
That's how you're supposed to do it. My problem is just about every record I receive anymore is warped to some degree. Not sure if it's the press or the exposures through shipping. Sucks though |

12.02.21 | I’m so sorry for your loss. RIP to 13 and the rest of them. I’d be devastated if my collection got destroyed or stolen. |

12.02.21 | It's likely because your record shelves were packed too tightly. They shouldn't warp from being stored normally like that. In any case, slight warp on a record isn't a big deal. It's why a stylus is designed to track the record well. You can buy a record weight if you're really concerned about it. If the warp is so severe that the record doesn't play anymore. |

12.02.21 | my whole collection has been stored like that for 25 years with no warps, they have to be tight against each other though
there are ways to fix it. Put them together really tight for a while sanding upright with some pressure form both sides. they also sell this weighted donut thing you put on the label that as it plays flattens it out |

12.02.21 | I have 10 and it's warped as fuck too. Luckily the arm isn't too strict and rolls with it so it plays without skipping |

12.02.21 | Lol storing your records like that, like how record stores store their records, is not why they warped |

12.02.21 | Dude just get a record clamp. They're great at flattening out warped records, at least to the point of playability. |

12.03.21 | I didnt know about record clamps/weights, I’ll definitely invest into one of those.
It must have been the heat in my room that caused them to warp the way that they have. Thanks guys, my hope is not lost lol |

12.03.21 | RIP for now but Yeah get a weight or a clamp. You might get lucky on a couple although weights can fuck up your motor. I prefer clamps. Im so ridiculously anal since I started collecting records again, new inner and outer sleeves, Even bought a record clearer. Whole things cos a fortune. Worth it tho. |
